Based on what?

1) I gave an example
2) I have played professional sport (doubt you have)
3) Profanity when there's no aggression shows lack of intelligence and vocabulary

What bearing does your professional sport experience have on this group of players? It doesn't give your opinion any credibility. The same way my coaching of international athletes in other sports doesn't mean I know a thing about the mentality of our side.

We couldn’t quite get over the line 10 years ago and came third.

We then regrouped, saw that we’d had better seasons than the other three and won the playoffs.

The fact that most people judge their opinion on what they know and see. They don't see what players really say and think when a camera is not on them and don't have to be a good boy. I have been in similar circumstances and know what players say so basing my opinion on that. Hence my opinion. I didn't say these players do think the same way at all. I mearly said I can see heads dropping and it's going against them similar to Brentford just missing out on automatic placing last year then failing in the play offs.

Maybe I should change my name to Dwightyorkesuperstar. That's usually what people claim in reply to someone that gives an unpopular 'opinion'.

Again though, that's those players and not these players. Each group is different and where one group is mentally weak (as Brentford were/are) others are strong. Your experiences with your group still has no bearing on this one.

You can't dismiss someone's opinion on this group just because you have worked with others. They have the same experiences with this group as you do. Unless you're staff or ex staff then you probably shouldn't be on here anyway :)

At our current rate of point accumulation we're looking at around 90 by season's end. That's almost always enough for at least second but it's going to be tight this year unless one of Brentford, Norwich or us have a wobble in form.

What's the highest points total scored by the team that finished third?

That's a very good question.

In recent years, I think that it's:

(1) 2017/2018 - Fulham - 88 points
(2) 2011/2012 - West Ham - 86 points
(=3) 2013/2014 - Derby - 85 points
(=3) 2016/2017 - Reading - 85 points

Someone on this forum said that we should be aiming for 89 points, which would mean 12 wins from the last 19 matches, which on current form is very achievable. Can anyone coax SgorioFruit into starting a countdown page again?

Well yes I believe you are being negative.

Judging by what I've witnessed so far this season, a top two spot is very achievable.
Of course lots of way to go, injuries, loss of form, or both could play a part, but I believe we have a deep enough squad now to cope.
BTW injuries and loss of form can also effect others just as easily.

But with 19 games to go we are well placed.

If it is a play-off spot, I see absolutely nothing to fear.

Enjoy the ride 😎

There's such a long way to go. We could end up anywhere from 1 to 6 easily. I don't think we'll be higher or lower than that :)

If we are in the play offs I think we'll have a much better shot than last year.

At last something gone our way today!
