Richard Montague

I hope he’s great. Just pointing out some facts. Here’s another (semi) fact, Coleman’s decision making is demonstrably gash. First the Luton bog cleaner wowed him (remember how lucky we were to get him?) then Duff, then Williams, and all his promises of get it right next time and pretence that he started later than he did to pretend his hands were clean. On top of Coleman’s choice ‘radar’, this guy’s ‘radar’ data has only ever signed non league and league 2 players, hasn’t it? Fogive me if I don’t brim with optimism at his appointment. If he’s good, I will brim.

He's hardly going to be signing the likes of Salah and Cole Palmer for Notts County.

Or for us. 🤣 Your point Smurph? My analysis is entirely factual not opinionated. Do I hope he’s great. Yeah. Am I going to get excited yet. Hell no. The proof of the pudding, as Coops says will come soon enough. I thought Watson sounded good, and look at that, so I’m not going there as positive or negative again. I don’t want us to be where Notts are, and that is all his track record is. Fact.

My point is, give the bloke a chance before writing him off.

Are you expecting him to be signing Premier league footballers for a team in the conference/league two or sign players for us before he's started and the window is closed?

We've been crying out for a DoF and now we have one, let's slag him off. The Swansea way 🤷🏻

We have to give him a chance. None of us are football experts or have much of an idea of the inner workings of a club. He should be judged on performances and how well he meets his objectives. There will be another transfer window soon enough so not long to wait.
And how do we measure his success, genuine question. Purely on how much cop player X turns out to be?

You know how transfers work with football fans. For example, when a player was signed under Watson, if they were gash they were a Watson signing. If they were excellent, they were a Russell Martin signing. Same goes for when Jenkins was here with Laudrup.

Cynicism aside, let's hope he's very good at whatever-the-f*ck he'll be doing here and it'll work out better than the previous guy.

Go get 'em spreadsheets, Dick.
Someone’s definitely reading the best Swans forum on the internet. There’s absolutely no doubt that this appointment was not supposed to happen now. Priming the fans with a bit of ‘positive’ news. Fingers crossed, as always, that this is one of our good decisions.

I haven’t done any of that though. I’ve stated his record, and Coleman’s. People can get excited by that right now or not. I choose not. If he does a good job and by God it’s a big step up, I’ll be the first to sing his praises.

This is true to be fair. It’s always hindsight. Some will work some won’t. To be brutally honest though, I’m reall sceptical about ‘data driven’. It fills me with dread. If that’s slagging him off, so be it.

And Richard has probably never kicked a football in his life...
That’s not the role. Every modern business, successful or not, relies to degree on data analysis. There is no getting away from that. All things considered it shouldn’t be seen as a negative appointment. We have to wait and see.

It's not a case of getting excited. It's about judging the bloke on his actions.

I hope he starts by trimming some of our massive squad. We have two teams worth if players and it’s obvious that half of them are never going to play for us. Get 10 out and two or three in. Getting the likes of Congrieve and Parker on the pitch would be a start.

Notts County fans seem to be disappointed he's gone and clearly rate this Football Radar thing.

Less positive about Williams.
