S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Blackburn Rovers 1 Swansea City 2 | Attendance: 11,013 (372 away) | Tues 30th Sept | The EFL Championship

Maybe we need Franco’s strength there and push Galbraith to the 10 role. At least he’d get more shots in
We missed Yalcouye. Seems Sheehan won't push him to play 2 games in short period of time as he mentioned about his age and learning. He brings alot of creativity and yes he can be muscled out sometimes, he showed what we need. Franco and Stamenic at same time doesn't work for me. Galbraith looks like a star, but he is another one who is struggling with short turnaround with games. Seems he plays better after longer rests between games. Eom is hot and cold, but would proberly start him on Saturday and give Inoussa a rest. Eom seems to play better when he starts than sub.

But what about performances?

I want to be clear, I am not worried and know it needs time so I am certainly not one of the 'Sheehan out' brigade and do not like changing a manager mid season. But performances have a lot to improve on and usually it is the performances after 8 games that matter more than the place in the table.
I agree with concerns re performances. I’m not commenting on tonight as I haven’t watched it but to me, the kinds of performances we’ve been putting in haven’t been sustainable ones, we won’t keep putting away 2 with 4 on target for example, and our habit of conceding late (not tonight though) is never a good thing.

I think most agree that we haven’t been at our best for these opening games and that is quite understandable with all the change. The difference of opinion is that some feel that we are waiting to click and get better and some feel that isn’t going to happen and that this is the best the current set up can manage with these players. That’s just how I see it anyway.

Performance is too much of an excuse to not get results. Luke Williams and Russell Martin both used to hide behind “performance” to hide abject failure. No hiding behind results over a large sample, and he’s now been in charge for nearly 30 games.

I must have been watching a different game. I thought Eom was a good sub who did his job well. Not sure what we’re expected to look like on a Tuesday night in Blackburn but it was okay.

I thought Eom had beefed up in the summer, saw some video about it, but he was outmuscled time and again tonight, and not just by big thugs either. Also his failure to close down his winger in defence had me spitting feathers in the last 10/15 minutes. More work in the gym, son.

A very useful win.

Even if we don't play all that well, we stay in games. We give ourselves a chance to collect points by being solid, not taking unnecessary risks and maintaining a good defensive shape. This stuff may not be sexy but it's very important. And we didn't have any of those attributes under Martin or Williams.

We're doing just fine. Sheehan is doing a very good job.

At least it is an option for us. I like Inoussa, but we could really do with him starting to contribute some goals or assists.

Inoussa has contributed assists

It wasn’t his winger

He was pretty bad trying to stop crosses tonight. He has gotten stronger and seen him perform better, but I do think he is a player who needs to play more regular and starting matches.

On any other day I would agree with this. And pretty much do 99% of it. But Sheehan got it all wrong in the first half. Really poor. Think he has realised Benson is not a starter and we need Yalcouye.

Great three points. Lacklustre performance. Lucky with the pen but we’ve had a few the other way.

Our starting midfield doesn’t work. Nor the one we started with on Saturday. The players are too much of the same. Nice, neat and tidy but no real creativity. It may not be popular but I think Galbraith was weaker today and last weekend.

Need to change shape. Miles better with a 10.

Also need to stop sitting back and lumping it when we go ahead. Could easily have cost us again.

Positives though - Fantastic goal from Franco and fantastic poaching of the ball and cut back from Idah and good finish from Cullen.

Two or three great saves as well.

All in all a good evening and we move forward. Hopefully learn from it.
I think Stamenic has shrunk back (in effectiveness) which has made Galbraiths job a lot harder . We need Stamenic to bring the ball forward more and start causing set midfields problems.

Im a fan of Eom, but his defensive side is as poor as Key at times.
