Most fans who have see Widell play in the last couple of games would have had him starting today. He's just too attack minded for this boring manager. Most of the league games this season have been mind numbingly boring to watch . Not sure what the owners are expecting, points and position wise, but we are probably going to finish no higher than a Martin side , and considering all the hype and enthusiasm at the start of the season is quite a miserable effort.
I think the main lesson there is not to take much notice of hype tbh. Agree re Widell though. Was excellent on Wednesday, disappointed he put Ronald back in, it wasn't warranted.

It's not solely down to Sheehan, the main problem is they we have very average attacking players. We have wingers and wing backs who can't cross properly, and most of them are on their third manager here. We will not improve one jot in that department if Sheehan goes, I guarantee it. The only solution is to get better players
Not sure…there’s a different way to use wingers if going wide all the time and crossing isn’t working. And it really isn’t never will with VIP/Idah/Cullen in the box. Then again…Ronald…Eom….Inoussa(what we’ve seen)…Benson. Zero end product of any sort.

Carrying on with what we are doing and expecting something different is barking though. Maybe we should play with no wingers and dominate the midfield, like Alf Ramsey’s World Cup winners.

Except tbf to Sheehan he has changed it up these past two games. He's changed the formation (and we do look a bit better for it imo). He is trying stuff. He is trying to find a blend. Ironically, if I was going to accuse of him of anything it is that he hasn't given the same XI a run of games this season, he's made too many changes arguably.

My take on our attacking woes, watching City play us off the park the other day makes it glaringly obvious, I know MC are light years ahead of us but when its attack v defence like it was most of Weds and again in the 2nd half today when City had the ball it was A to B to C in a quick and fluid motion and all to feet, when we look at this afternoon it's A to B B takes time to control it cos A either puts it short or wide of B the B knocks it to C in exactly the same fashion on both occasions today giving the defence time to think, adjust and respond to our attack. Most times these are only 5 yrd passes too, we deffo need to practice better passing and ball control.

Yes, it needs more time, he must see it, but it’s getting really frustrating. Then again, Key puts that gift in the net and we’re probably all saying it’s coming together. Fine margins, and results give you space to try things.

The second half was our best football this season and unlucky not to win. Best thing that happened was conceding that first goal it changed the tempo to our game in a positive way and with introduction of Widell which give energy to the midfield.

Possibly starting with 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 without wingers(Ronald/EOM) could be our best chance of success. We could have Idah and Vipotnik starting together with this formation, two strikers in the box for Tymon to whip those crosses in.

The Team I would like to see going forward

Vig
Key - Casey - Cabango - Burgess - Tymon

Galbraith - Widell - Franco/Stamenic

Vipotnik - Idah/Inoussa

That was basically the team that started against Citeh, and gave a tremendous account of themselves in the first half. He's not playing that line up , it's far too attacking for our tedious and boring manager. If anyone can explain why Widell didn't start today please let me know.

We are certainly better than bottom of every attacking metric And, come on ffs

Also, tymon is probably the best crosser of the ball in the football league

Well, you can say that, but obviously not. The figures don't lie. I just don't believe that's all down to Sheehan.

That last line, really? He's good, but I don't think he's that good.

Im not sure what everyone has seen in widell performances to suggest hes the attacking threat that we are missing 🤷‍♂️ Yes hes physical and works hard (like our other midfielders) but in his 2 of his cup appearances hes missed sitters. Just not sure hes quite there yet.
