S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Ipswich Town 3 Swansea City 0 | Att: 27,594 | 28/02/26 | The EFL Championship | Portman Road

This season you’re spot on and I’m enjoying non-Swans matches far more as a result.

I was just cautioning getting too far down the line of ‘100 point seasons being over’ and the ‘gap closing’. Let’s see how Wolves, Burnley & West Ham/Forest/… get on next season.

Personally, I think this season was a great opportunity for 10-15 clubs to make a realistic push for promotion, which might not be the case next year (and definitely wasn’t over the last few years)
Your last part is correct.
We sit 16th on game 35 with 46 points, we were sat 16th last season on game 35 with fewer points.

It's personally been an opportunity for more clubs this season. We certainly spent enough to argue that we could be doing better than we are position wise this season.

Our away from has contributed a lot to our current position and 9 losses in the last 11 games away from home needs to addressed.

Spend is only relative to the squad you started with.

If Man Utd come down and don’t spend anything, should they be relegated?

Yep, opportunity missed in some respects for sure but we’ve been far too inconsistent, and to be truthful very poor in lots of matches, so deserve to be where we are.

I’d like to have seen what Matos could have done with a full pre season and this squad (hopefully next year we’ll see) however, he’ll definitely need to think about what he does away from home. You’ve got to be picking up some points and 9 defeats from 11 won’t get you anywhere (apart from relegated if your home form nose dives).

Too late now, but I wonder how we would have faired with a 5-4-1 starting line up?

Vigs
Key/Galbraith, Bango, Ward, Burgess,Tymon
Franco, Stamenic, Fulton, Weddell
Vip/Cullen

Park the bus and fight out a nil nil draw.

Something needs to change away from home.
If that is the formation or something else....there is certainly an issue somewhere.

I wouldn’t be making drastic changes for these last 6 games, but it’s definitely worth trying something and from a confidence point of view we could certainly do with winning a couple of the remaining away games this season.

Matos has been breath of fresh air and our home form has been outstanding.
We are very poor on the road though and he needs to come up with solutions.

It's not in Matos's DNA

Maybe bringing Ward in for his experience and/or going with 2 holding midfielders rather than 1.
Things are great at home but that's being hurt with our away from being so poor.

I believe if the league started when he took over from his first real game in charge, we would be top 10.

scoring has been an issue all season, along with giving away stupid goalsl
The last few games we have lost that spark, some signs today, but not enough
ive only left a match early once in my time, today i left the tv after the 3rd, to visit my wife in hospital, thats how bad i thought it was.

cant find the emojis on here lol

Our remaining away games really arent great aswell.

There's a real possibility we end the season with the 2nd worse away record in the entire league.

Didn’t see the game, but reading the swans sites, totally 2nd best. We need big changes next season. Not enough quality in the squad
