Rayan Cherki… best player I’ve seen in the flesh for probably a decade.

Absolute beast of a player. Beautiful to watch and absolutely ran the show.

Sometimes you’ve just got to enjoy a performance like that, even tho it was from an opposition player

He was everywhere and normally on the end of something good fair play, but that’s what 40 mill gets you I suppose. Prob what we’ve paid for half of the team

Change of shape tonight… has Sheehan stumbled on a formation and a tactic that works.

I’d go with it again on Saturday… it certainly brought the best of out Franco, Galbraith and Widell.
Gets the West Ham lad in the team too; although I really liked th look of Samuel's smith.

It also allows Tymon to get further forward

Imo that formation makes sense

If I have one criticism of last night it’s the fact that we allowed a second string City side to play the way that they are most comfortable with.
Many on here stating recently that possession football is dead….obviously not.
Second string 😂 you absolute tit.

Took a deflection and 70 minutes to get ahead of us ffs

Their first touch and speed to move the ball is incredible

It was all about fitness, City play at that intensity every week, there is a reason why they're at Man City and not Swansea.. we could only compete for 45 minutes, and our subs didn't impact the game in a positive manner, but if Widell and Franco would've stayed on, a steamroller was coming.. the top 1% in any sport, have different gears, the level is a different kettle to what we're used to.. it wasn't a disgrace though
No disgrace, 2 late goals in the ned, but our weakness was there to see.

It was a second string you nipple, padded out with a couple of first teamers, nobody is arguing that it was a decent performance but it was just the game that Pep probably hoped for.

If you look at the stats, they absolutely mullered us. I think they had 12 x the number of shots on goal. But that 1st half was surprisingly competitive, we gave a really good account of ourselves and tested them a few times - and of course, scored a worldie.

It's a feature of the way they play that they dominate the ball and the opposition gets sapped of energy being pulled around the pitch. As the 2nd half progresses you really notice it, and then you have to make a bunch of changes and that disrupts you even more and they just keep at it relentlessly until you leave a gap or switch off or your legs can't make that press anymore. Last night was a classic example of that in action. We didn't have the quality to overcome them head on and get the ball back and we just ran out of steam recreating the Alamo.

I'm hoping on Saturday, we'll feel emboldened to have a go at Charlton. It's like being really apprehensive about trying to bench XX weights, and then someone makes you try XXXXXXX and you surprise yourself with how well you did and it gives you the confidence to go back to XX and smash it. F*ck knows where that sh*t analogy came from, but I think you get the idea - if we can be bold and confident to come out strong against Man City, we should be pumped up to tear Charlton a new one and not go back into our shell.
