Indeed. I was critical of the risk of appointing him at the time and I stand by that view.
However, I was not present at his interview and I'm delighted that the risk looks like a masterstroke. I was converted very quickly by what I saw.
I think we were all a little skeptical at the time. The majority of us are more than happy to admit when we're wrong, though.
