Not a classic albeit a wonderful Tymon goal but 3 points and a clean sheet much needed.

I think we need to realise that the squad is totally unbalanced and I believe Matos is very aware of this. He started with a solid team and we need to be letting Yalcouye and Benson return to their clubs in Jan with a RB and no 10 high on the list.
All players put a shift in but I was quite annoyed with Inoussa who seems lazy in his defensive work.
You could see confidence was low but that result, performance and 3 points will help massively.

Galbraith again, he is absolute class.
Unfortunately I don't think we'll have time for a pre match pint or rissole, the timings are a bit tight. Landing at 4.00pm Cardiff, then a hire car to get us there via Baglan to pick up my season ticket.
EDIT: sorry to bother the thread with my travel arrangements, but thinking of coming up A48 from airport, then getting on M4 at Pyle. Are there still all those roadworks and delays at Margam on the motorway? In which case I'll stay on A48 through Port Talbot. C'mon Darran, what's the gen?

The roadworks are still there.

Better on and off the ball today, really encouraged by the fight shown from all of our players, they looked like they wanted to be there. Matos is clearly motivating them. Need to make it count and win on Tuesday now though.

Feels like we can’t let a game go by without scoring a banger this season. Some good goals in a poor season so far.

If we can play with that level of energy while improving game by game, we won’t have any problems. Chuffed for Matos.

Mike if you don't want to go to Baglan I have a spare season ticket can take a screenshot of the QR Code & send it to.

There was talk earlier in the thread about Stamenić and the up and down start he’s had. That was the best we’ve seen from him today imo. He was a bit rushed in his decision making at times giving the ball away unnecessarily, but overall a really solid and dominant performance from him.

Nice to be in a happy stadium again. Tymon’s goal!!! 😳😳😳😳😳

We must stick with a solid team as best as we can going forward, I think one of our issues this season is the continuing chopping of changing with the midfield.
We are over stocked with similar style midfielders and too many wingers. I think we looked a lot better on our right side with Galbraith there but it just highlighted how poor Key has been. We can't look to continue with Galbraith at RB as he offers much more in midfield. I don't think we need to have anything special at RB, we just need someone who is solid defensively.

I must also add, I liked the idea of playing a fluid attack when Vipotnik went off, I don't think it worked with the players we have but the idea that Matos is looking at switching wingers to striker and being able to interchange between the 3 keeps defenders guessing and in their toes.

I completely disagree I’m afraid.

Full back is one of the most important roles in the way we are trying to play. Galbraith and Tymon are critical in driving forward, creating triangles, linking the back and midfield and attack. Think back to Rangel and Ben when we were re at our best.

Tymon was fantastic today. And Galbraith at right back the same.

For all he’s a good midfielder, we’ve not been creating anything with him there.

Widell added a lot and he can’t play when Galbraith is in midfield.

You need intelligent full backs to interchange with Ronald and Eom (or whoever is playing).

Keep him where he is for Tuesday. We can think again if we bring in a new right back.

A lot will depend on how Matos viewed things today. My untrained eye gave a 👍

For me it’s a case of getting points in the board. It’s Stoke away after Portsmouth which I’m prepared to write off if it means three points midweek. So, the bottom line - if nobody is in the red zone then start the same eleven.
Same here and if I'm a player I'm telling the new manager I'm 100% fit, don't drop me

What a feeling to get a BIG 3 points, great effort shown by the players today and a massive congrats to Matos who’s had a tough start without his staff also 👏🏻o

First time at the Lib for a while. My overwhelming feeling is relief. Much better than what I saw at Bristol. Baby steps and all that, but it’s a start and will repair a bit of confidence after last week’s shitshow. That second goal at that time was critical. The air went out of them like it’s been going out of us. Wasn’t worried after that, at least not before the last five minutes usual frenetic nonsensical panic.

Second half a non event, but in this case…thank God. Eom was superb, a real threat. Oxford were just terrible. Mark Harris is laughably awful. Bellamy needs to punt him prompto.

Same again next week will ease a lot of pressure.

A slow start for 20 minutes then we dominated the game, excellent performance by Galbraith. In the last 10 minutes you could sense the nervousness in the crowd as Oxford pushed forward..vital 3 points.

It was forced on us today, but it solved the problem of how to play Galbraith, Franco and Widell in the same team. Widell was excellently promising: he allowed us to play through the middle as an option in a way we never can with Cullen. Didn’t create, but there’s a lot of potential there.

I do think we miss Galbraith in the middle, but I agree he also adds a lot from RB. Ideally we want two of him so one could play at right back! (Or we find ourselves a better right back; it’s not as if we haven’t needed another one since what seems like forever).

Absolutely. Fighting spirit in the team can’t be a bad thing.

Eight changes it is then 🤣
Ha, we haven’t got that many back ups have we?!

Fighting spirit was good today. There was a definite upping of desire and determination. I had a big upping when Tymon’s volley went in, but maybe that’s too much information 🤣
