It was forced on us today, but it solved the problem of how to play Galbraith, Franco and Widell in the same team. Widell was excellently promising: he allowed us to play through the middle as an option in a way we never can with Cullen. Didn’t create, but there’s a lot of potential there.

I do think we miss Galbraith in the middle, but I agree he also adds a lot from RB. Ideally we want two of him so one could play at right back! (Or we find ourselves a better right back; it’s not as if we haven’t needed another one since what seems like forever).
I think it’s one of those situations where Galbraith is our best midfielder yet the midfield is better as a whole when he is at right back. He, Stamenic and Franco get in each others way a lot whereas today it allowed all of them to play.

Oxford were awful because they weren't allowed to be any good. They started the game confidently as you would expect them to having taken 4 points from their last 2. Then we got the press right and stopped them playing. They got more and more frustrated as the game more on because we stopped them from playing the game they wanted.
Remember the PL days when the Swans apparently never beat anyone any good? Whenever we won it was because the opposition were awful.
There are two teams trying to play their own game and trying to stop the opposition from playing theirs. We did both well today.

Better on and off the ball today, really encouraged by the fight shown from all of our players, they looked like they wanted to be there. Matos is clearly motivating them. Need to make it count and win on Tuesday now though.

Feels like we can’t let a game go by without scoring a banger this season. Some good goals in a poor season so far.

If we can play with that level of energy while improving game by game, we won’t have any problems. Chuffed for Matos.

VM clearly the missing link to unshackle our latent talent

It’s been clear as day that we have the richly assembled latent talent - VM the cherry on top

Exciting times again, with a coupla big changes such as EG as El Capitan to emulate Matty in that DCM aching chasm pivotal space…..and get our Sexy Swans playing identity back in the limelight

VaMos, VM …..

How nice does it feel to get 3 points, a clean sheet and a decent performance over 90 minutes.

Long may this feeling continue, now is the time to get behind the lads.
And a song for the new manager. Although it’ll feel weird singing it in April

I thought today, as Matos has said in his first interview what we needed to be, we were a team.
Players fought for each other.
Burgess and Franco flying into headers.
Hunting Oxford down. ( I think we can only get better and more intense at this the fitter they get).
We actually put a lot of balls in the box and the wingers went at their defenders.
Still think cabango and burgess played a few dreadful balls into their midfield.

Question is, will we have the recovery and energy to go again Tuesday like that?

“We can't look to continue with Galbraith at RB as he offers much more in midfield. I don't think we need to have anything special at RB, we just need someone who is solid defensively.”

I completely disagree I’m afraid.

Full back is one of the most important roles in the way we are trying to play. Galbraith and Tymon are critical in driving forward, creating triangles, linking the back and midfield and attack. Think back to Rangel and Ben when we were re at our best.

Tymon was fantastic today. And Galbraith at right back the same.

For all he’s a good midfielder, we’ve not been creating anything with him there.

Widell added a lot and he can’t play when Galbraith is in midfield.

You need intelligent full backs to interchange with Ronald and Eom (or whoever is playing).

Keep him where he is for Tuesday. We can think again if we bring in a new right back.
That's fine, its all about views and opinions.
The only thing I will ask, what did we create in open play of serious note today?

The ref today!
Again, wasn't a great performance and very reluctant to book their players with various fouls made.

Shocking performance. Not up with play, fussing about the odd yard for a set piece, so slow in whistling for a free kick to go ahead whilst missing blatant yellow card offences and failing to consult his assistants

One of the worst refereeing performances in a while and that's saying a lot when you consider the benchmark.

Galbraith nearly scored in first half, Cullen in the second half, Eom shanking a shot after a good run from memory
I thought the dominated the majority of the play today and if I wanted to be over critical I'm disappointed we didn't put 4 or more past them.

I never thought I'd say this but I agree with you about EG as captain.
