S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City v Sheffield United | The EFL Championship | 3pm, 16.08.25 | The Swansea.com Stadium

Its up to the club now to build on the momentum from that cup win against Crawley. Wales for me deserves an opportunity to start after racking up a goal and an assist tonight and offering more than Cullen and VP did with triple the playing time he has had so far.

The new kid will almost certainly start on the bench I think unless he is absolutely flying in training. Galbraith simply must start in CDM and the challenge for Sheehan is finding a way to integrate Eom Inoussa and Ronald in the same lineup if possible.

I suspect Cabango, Key, Cullen and Fulton won't be far from the starting line up Saturday. Rightly or wrongly.

I think 3 of those are locks to be starting on Saturday. I'd be surprised to see Fulton in the starting 11 for a home game based on Sheehan's history, but it's not impossible.

SU have lost 9 players who played 15 or more games for them last season and not replaced them. They had a rookie CB pairing of a kid from L1 and Norrington-Davies which clearly didn't work plus issues elsewhere.

And their manager gave them a post match talking down to them on the pitch on the weekend 🤣

My team:
Vig
Key, Burgess, Cabango, Tymon
Franco, Galbraith, Widell
Inoussa, Wales, Ronald

Cullen or Vip to come on for Wales if not working, ditto for Eom for either winger.
Casey to cover centre backs, Parker to cover full backs.
New lad to come on for last 30 mins in place of Widell.

I'm coming over from España for this match and I'm EXTREMELY excited! STID

Being able to call on one of Inoussa, Ronald, or Eom from the bench is one of our strongest suits, not many clubs in this division have that much pace to leave sitting around. I know Ronald's not exactly a prolific goalscorer, but he is one of the most direct players in the league, and I think he'll benefit a lot from having a bit of pace up there with him for once

It seems strange to be thinking of Wales starting this game as it was understood he was one for the future but in the few times he's been on the pitch, he's looked more like a #9 than any of the square pegs we've used in that position since we lost Piroe and now that we've upped the quality of our wide players, particularly with Inoussa, I can see no reason why Wales shouldn't start as the wide players will benefit from knowing there's someone in the box for them to aim for.

What impressed me about Wales wasn't just his movement in and around the box and sniffing out goalscoring opportunities. That should be a given for a striker and the fact that its not the case for our current two first choice strikers is another topic.

Instead what impressed me the most was how he collected the ball and distributed it intelligently into space for the wingers and full backs either side of him to continue the attack at pace. We haven't had a striker that did that since McBurnie

If you're returning to Spain on ryanair are you aware of the baggage handlers strike( won't be a problem if you're travelling light😃)

Sheff Utd are in action tonight in the EFL Cup, away at Birmingham. That should be an interesting watch.
Will likely check it out and see if we can get a handle of the condition that Sheff Utd will be in for Saturday
