1-0 to the Arsen... sorry... Swansea.

Clearly the two things are not exclusive of each other but would people be happier on Saturday night with

a 1-0 win secured off the back of a performance akin to the Forest and Coventry game or
a 2-1 defeat where we saw some free flowing football and a great attacking performance

As I said clearly not exclusive and there should be no reason why both aren't possible but I think the question is relevant
Phil, you are normally the voice of reason on here, but can't believe you are even asking that. I'd settle for a crap performance with a 1-0 win all day .

And I reluctantly agree.

I've been keeping a note of people who say that they would rather win a couple of matches if that means that we lose a couple of matches, rather than draw all four. And then who immediately start criticising after a defeat.

If there is any logic in this league, then by all logic we should win this. They won their last match but they lost the previous ones for a reason, and we should really be too good for them. Their fans forums will be pleased with a draw but not disappointed with a loss because this isn't one of the matches that they expect to win. I know that we regularly, and I do mean regularly, mess up against teams in the regulation zone but this shouldn't be one of them. Question. We're 80 miles away from each other - does this in any way count as a derby?

If we want to be serious about this we have to build something. It’s a matter of time before results inevitably catch up with performances, as we have seen with Monk and Clement in particular. Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers and Laudrup built something, and they weren’t going to tear it down after a couple of defeats. Aside from the odd 45 we’re not good to watch, but as we are winning people are happy. I don’t want us to lose but I’d rather see us trying to get back to what made us successful ten years ago, even if it takes a bit more time.

Interesting question Phil. Following our 5-4 win against palace a few years ago, and subsequent heavy defeats, we went to watch us away at West brom. Before the game, I horrified those around me by saying I'd prefer a 0-0 to a 4-5 away win. Why? Because that would mean we would have fixed the defensive leak. We lost 3-1.

Re your question, if it were a 0-1 defeat, on the back of a fluke goal, with us hitting the post a few times I would probably take it, because the subsequent points total should be higher, if the performance level was restored to what we've become used to pre forest. On the other hand, a defeat when playing well could dent confidence. Aaaarrrggghh! So, on balance of achieving a clean sheet, I'd take option A. Hopefully we'll with with style. What a view from this fence eh.

Don't think we've been great in too many games this season but still found a way due to our great defense. I would like to see a performance this afternoon without expecting one but in reality l'll end up hoping we score and hold on to another ground out win.

STEVE COOPER FOCUSED ON BUILDING MOMENTUM

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper has his sights set on ensuring Swansea City pick up momentum once again when they host Bristol City today.

The Swans suffered a rare setback when they were beaten at Huddersfield a week ago, but responded well with a 1-0 victory over Coventry in midweek.

Their destiny remains firmly in their own hands as they sit a point off the automatic promotion places with two games in hand on all the teams above them.

They will look to maintain that push when they entertain the Robins at the Liberty Stadium, with Nigel Pearson set to take charge of the visitors for the first time.

Much of the pre-match focus has been on the subject of Pearson’s appointment, but Cooper’s own attention has been firmly on making sure his side are ready to go again.

"They're all massive tests. We won't pay too much attention to them changing manager or recent results,” he said.

"Obviously we do our opposition analysis, but the focus will be on us.

“We're at home, we've just had a good win and we want to make it two in a row to get momentum going again. That'll be our only focus. It's a good game to look forward to.

"I don't know (about a new manager bounce) to be honest. It's not a science, is it?

“We won't be paying any attention to it.

"I actually know the coaches at Bristol City really well, I worked with them both with England, Keith Downing and Paul Simpson.

"But we're just focused on ourselves and hopefully it's enough to get us another positive day."

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Swans legend Lee Trundle said

"It was a big game, there was a big crowd as well on the day

To go and play at the Liberty was big for the club and for a lot of the boys as well it was testing yourself at the next level up because a lot of lads had only played in that level below.

"It was good to go into the game like that and show that we can not only match teams, but blow teams away.

“I think once you score and get in the lead like that, it becomes easier. Everyone relaxes a bit more, and when you’re relaxed, you play better football because you’re not nervous about making a mistake.

"I remember the game, there was some great goals in there, Kevin McLeod got a hat-trick in the game and scored a great one from outside the box.

"For me there was the quick thinking of Roberto Martinez to put me in quick on a free-kick. It was one of those games where it just clicked for us.

“That’s when you enjoy your football most. As I said before, you’re relaxed, you’re just enjoying it with a smile on your face, you know you’ve won the game. You can go out and enjoy every minute of it. You don’t need to worry about the crowd, they’re in good spirits.

"Even if someone makes a mistake the crowd is still clapping because they know the games won and they’ve been entertained on the day.

"You probably don’t enjoy those games as much as when you come away winning one nil. That sounds strange but it seems that you’ve worked harder for it.

"When you go and batter a team like that it becomes easier. Although you do enjoy it, it’s not as rewarding as a one nil win, but, if you’re asked could we win with that score every week, I would have definitely picked that score!

“It was one of those games where it just clicked for us and it set the tone for another good season.

“It was a new ground but you look into the crowd and you see how much it means to people. Screaming and shouting in the stands, that didn’t change.

“There’s nothing better than going out and hearing the noise, hearing them sing your name and being involved in a game like that."

Lovely day, a nice firm pitch, against a team even though has won it's last game, should be there for the taking... an optimistic 3-1 from me 👍🌞😎

We'd all love to watch champagne football but the Championship is such a hard league to get promoted from, I'll take any wins we can get in any shape or form between now and the end of the season. Specially when you think of those entitled pricks in their tin shed in West London, not to mention those scummers coming up fast on the rails. Just give me three points every time, please, and let us finish in front of both, in an auto promotion spot.
