Here is a puzzler for you, Swans finish this season in 3rd place, 2pts behind the team that finishes 2nd, will you then say if the Swans had 1 more point they would have gone up ?

I won't start by pointing out what is wrong with the question given we cannot finish above ourselves

You are just trying to create an argument for the sake of it and frankly derailing the discussion - you need one more point (or the same points and a better goal difference etc etc) than the team that finishes 3rd to win promotion.

It's a simple fact. Undisputable.

I'm done on the discussion now though so feel free to have a reply but it is just going round in circles and I would rather discuss the game than any guesswork on points tallys, simply put we win every game we have left this season and we will go up. Probably as champions
I see the second place team doesn't exist and Swans need just 1pt more than the 3rd place team....hmm

Anyway not to derail the discussion, I will be very disappointed if the Swans don't win tomorrow, two positives in recent weeks is Grimes seems to have found his shooting boots judging by the cup match and we now have somebody that can now take an attacking set piece in Hourihane (not sure how to spell his name).

I agree I will be disappointed too - the last week has gone as well as it could and with three games in a week, a suspension and two 0-0 draws for them and us scoring 9 in the last 3 games we should be confident.

Losing would not, of course, be the end of the world, but the benefits of winning are huge and will add additional weight to any doubts that may creep in for Norwich.

I also believe Brentford are due a bad run very soon - they have started looking more frail defensively and at some stage they have to face Norwich as well, as it stands today a draw would be a brilliant result in that game but that outlook could easily change by the time that game comes around.

One thing is certain there are plenty of twists and turns to come, when Bournemouth left the Liberty we all thought they were likely to push on and that hasn't exactly gone well - you wouldn't have predicted the daylight between us and them back then

Got 0-0 written all over it.

Unless someone scores...

TALKING TACTICS | SWANSEA CITY V NORWICH CITY

Source: Swansea Official Site

Football stats expert WhoScored.com take a look at the form of Ben Cabango, and analyse why he could prove to be a key figure in Swansea City's clash with Norwich City.

There's a mouthwatering clash looming in the Championship. Swansea City are hunting down leaders Norwich as they seek revenge for their 1-0 loss at Carrow Road in the reverse meeting.

The Swans go into Friday's meeting on a seven-game unbeaten run in the Championship, winning five in that period, and on home turf, Steve Cooper's side have been superb of late. Indeed, they are one of three teams that have lost just one home game this season, while a 10-game unbeaten streak at the Liberty Stadium is the third currently longest run of its kind in the division.

Norwich may be title favourites, but they have won just one of their last four on the road in all competitions.

Emiliano Buendia's suspension could prove costly as Norwich seek all three points on Friday night after the Argentine was dismissed in the 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough over the weekend.

The Buendia to Teemu Pukki partnership is one of the best in the Championship, with three of the former's six assists coming for the latter to hit the back of the net. That isn't to say that Swansea can rest on their laurels, safe in the knowledge that Buendia is ruled out and, it could yet prove to be a testing 90 minutes for young centre-back Ben Cabango.

The 20-year-old missed the reverse fixture due to injury, but is set to feature at the heart of Cooper's favoured three-man defence and maintain his excellent form this season. Cabango's WhoScored rating of 7.20 is the best of every Swansea player to feature in five or more league outings this season as the youngster repays the faith shown in him by his manager and then some.

Cabango's been crucial for a Swansea side that has conceded fewer goals (15) than any other Championship side this season, and just six times in 13 home league outings. The young Welshman and his defensive team-mates will need to be on top form to ensure Norwich enjoy little success in the final third in Friday's crunch clash.

The absence of Buendia is massive in Swansea's push for three points, but Norwich boss Daniel Farke is still able to call upon the services of top scorer Teemu Pukki. The Finn has scored 11 times in the Championship this season, but Pukki has scored in only two of the 10 league games both he and Buendia have not started together, which bodes well for Swansea.

With Cabango in such good form, he'll be confident of keeping Pukki at bay and, provided the Swans frontline are able to tuck away the opportunities presented to them, Swansea will fancy their chances of impacting Norwich's title charge and boosting their own promotion hopes in the process.

Interesting article will he play though? Cooper may go for Bennett, Guehi and Naughton for this !? ...

Think this game could hinge on whether Roberts and Bidwell/Manning can get forward as true wingbacks or get pinned back like Brentford did to us

Thank you. High praise. :D :D :D

Odd to think, but an early goal for them might be our best chance to win it, as we would have to go for them then and if we equalised we would keep pushing. While it’s 0-0 I think both sides will try hard to keep it that way and be over cautious. If you offered both managers a draw now I reckon they’d take it.

I would rather us get 5 early goals obviously, and let them pick the bones out of that, but I’m not convinced the first goal will win this one.

Indeed... we need to find a way of combatting this problem when teams try to prevent Bidwell and Roberts getting forward - we haven't found a solution to it yet. It will probably need a system change - with Ayew, Morris and Lowe being natural wide players we should be able to adapt fairly easy to a flat back 4 and with wingers during the game.

It doesn't seem that we've reacted to it in previous games... I can see Norwich trying to do the same to us tonight - their fans on their forum are talking about this already... let's hope we can adapt.

MATCHDAY MASCOTS

Tonight's virtual mascots are Tobias Robinson and Zach Weerackoon.

Tobias, aged eight, is from Swansea and his favourite player is Jamal Lowe. He plays football for Bont and the Swans.

Zach, aged 10, is also from Swansea and has a sister called Katie-Lee. Zach’s favourite player is Andre Ayew.

I would expect Norwich to stop our wingbacks getting forward. Getting Lowe and Ayew to do a bit more will be key. Ayew in particular is cute in that he passes to Roberts expecting a cross. What we need is for Ayew and Lowe to play off each and one of them take the ball wide, allowing a midfielder or two to get in the box. Lowe's recent set up for Dhanda in the box and Hourihane on the edge is an example though of course earlier passage was Ayew, Roberts, Ayew. It wont be possible for Norwich to stop either Lowe or Ayew every time.

I loved it in Coopers pre match interview he'd genuinely forgotten about Man City. Predictable Journo asks him about the 'big one' next week and he looks totally confused. You can see hi thinking 'wtf'....and then he remembers. I've not been his biggest fan to say the least, but I loved that. Focused and priorities right. I think Potter was far more focused on Man City as he knew that would give him national exposure.

I'm going to sell the Monmouth/Cooper love story when he takes us into the Europa League in 2024. A true romance that started off on a rocky path. :D
