Sorry, Lisa, I usually like your posts, a lot of common sense to them. However, the manager issues the tactics and trains the team. I said elsewhere that Williams doesn't seem to see the same team or onfield play that we do, that's not a good trait. It's common for football managers to dismiss the views of us common fans, but I think they do that at their peril. My first game was at 4/5 years old. 1955. I've seen them all come and go, players and managers, and though I couldn't do it myself, I feel I know a good 'un when I see them. Let's face up, Stevie Wonder could see that a) Grimes isn't captain material b) if you don't attack enough and shoot enough, you don't win (you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket). One fawning interview (who is that guy?) did it for me, after we'd won a couple of games, waxing lyrical about Grimes, as said interviewer, the guy asking the questions, said that Grimes can EVEN head the ball (??), to which Williams replied "Yes, amazing isn't it?". I just thought "Are we referring to the same person here?". Time is up.

No problem in anyone disagreeing with anyone!

But your post highlights an example of what I think is the underlying issue!

I don’t think it’s an individual player and wasn’t inferring that. It’s more of a culture thing rather than a person.

It’s been going on for quite some time now. Probably reared its head as far back as Laudrup’s second season.

There’s a lot wrong at the club, agreed. We can eradicate some of the wrongs by some fundamental changes in tactics, formation and the eleven.

Ok, so if he isn't, and grimes still does it week after week, why doesn't Williams change it (or hook him?) I'm assuming that isn't Williams fault either then?

No problem, Lisa. Let’s get back to talking about the fixes. Some of the tactics today were inexcusable, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over… Today was like a mirror image of Portsmouth. Luke isn’t learning and that’s a huge problem. Other fixes are needed in parallel and I just hope that the new brains at the top are a little more astute than the previous incumbents - appointments in the leadership team, recruitment, strengthening the connection between recruitment and coaching team, etc. Much to do.

Its clear as day now that Williams isn't capable of turning things around. Every game that he's left in charge of is less time for a new manager to work with. He needs to be relieved of his duties this weekend, for his sake and ours.

He does need to go imo, but I have posted before that there are deep problems.

Our owners and non football staff have no idea how to run the club.
We have a recruitment structure that doesn't seem to have enough knowledge.
The players themselves however poor tactics are show a total lack of passion, grit and the will to win the ball.
They are lightweight and lack teamwork, no movement and the over to you mentality.
That buffer from the bottom 3 could well disappear especially as I expect us to lose against Coventry and Bristol City.
Williams keeps mentioning that we need consistency.
Well he needs to open his eyes we already have it.

Yeah but the players recruited have good data analysis stats...albeit doesn't account for the real world

I agree that we are, my words here, rotten to the core from the team to the top. However, it is harder to get rid of the top. Williams would be a great start. WHEN, the new permanent manager comes in, hopefully, he will change the backroom squad and scouting bulbs. That's the best we can hope for until the owners gave had enough and move on to their next project.
