Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 3 Blackburn Rovers 0 | Att: 13,788 | The EFL Championship

Sadly I suspect that O'Brien might be a bit rich for us on a permanent basis. Hopefully we've got the lookouts for Franco Mk 2.
It might be but then again who knows? One things for sure - Franco, O’Brien and that new Swedish player are likely to give us a good shot at the play offs - maybe we could offer O’Brien a performance related contract like we used to under Huw’s tenure?

Mentioned this on another thread, and I could be wrong as I know next to nothing about him, but my guess is we could stretch to the wages now Grimes has gone - and maybe even a fee - for him, but I reckon he'll get equally as good offers from teams much closer to home and we'll miss out on that basis. Been based in Huddersfield his whole career and his wife is about to give birth. Can't see him moving here permanently unless no-one else comes in for him, and that's unlikely.

If we look ahead to next season despite people's beliefs that we have a weak squad, we'd be quite strong with the following

Vig/Rishworth
Key - Delcroix/NEW - Cabango - Tymon
Franco - LOB/NEW
NEW - Widdell - Ronald
Vip/NEW

Subs from: Naughton, NEW CB, NEW LB, NEW CM, Cullen, Cooper, Congreve, Bianchini, Ginmelly, EOM, Yates(?)

5 or 6 additions and we could be quite strong. If we kept Delcroix and LOB then perhaps only 4 would suffice with some outs like Tjoe-A-On, Christie, Joey (sadly), Pedersen, Fulton, McLaughlin, Kukharevych, Darling.

I like what I've seen of Widell but the Championship is a competitive league. If he's as good as he appears to be then a midfield trio like that would have to be at least good enough for a team hoping for the playoffs.

I guess it depends on who else is in for O'Brien. If the only alternative to us is the Forest bench then maybe we could come to an arrangement. A huge bonus if we make the Prem for example. I doubt he'll have only the two choices though.

Perhaps with LOB his baby being born down here - if his missus has come down too - might make him feel more at home?

Worse places to raise your child and he's in his prime.

He made it very clear that she was staying in Huddersfield in one of his first media interviews, said he didn't want a welsh baby (it was a bit of banter so sounds worse in print...)

Didn't realise that. That makes my post null and void then...!

Ambishun is critical.

Something magical happens when they drive over the Briton Ferry bridge

I've seen it many, many times.

In a past job I used to interact a lot with recent graduates from the Uni. The number of them that came to Swansea from elsewhere in the UK (and further afield) who made it pretty clear to me that they saw themselves staying put in the long term was considerable.

I guess it's something that those of us lucky enough to be from here take for granted.

It's funny because I met my wife in Wiltshire in 2019 (through work) and now her entire family have moved down. It's a calmer way of life and certainly compared to Wiltshire a more cost effective way of life.

You're certainly right that we take it for granted. Beaches on door step, plenty of shopping. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else until I retire and can spend 6 months of the year in Spain perhaps.

Best one I can remember was in about 2002 or 2003. Was in the office (Swansea High St Jobcentre) one day when Alan Tate came in with a mate of his who had liked the place so much he moved down here looking for work.

For me I would agree with all of this except maybe.

Kukharevych, Darling. Congreve. Yates.

Yates needs to go. 1 Year Left come summer.

Darling. Won't stay. But can only hope.

Congreve. Doesn't do it for me. Never really saw the player people saw in him. Yes I hear he is playing well now. But not for me personally.

Kukharevych - Not given enough chance with us. Would like to see what he has and gives us something we don't have. Big man up front.

Yes, but if he was a mate of Tatey, he'd probably moved from Sunderland so a no brainer 😂😂

There's a big Nissan factory there mind...

Parts of the NE are actually quite pretty according to a mate of mine who lived in Sedgefield for a bit, overall I'd rather be down here.
