Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 3 Blackburn Rovers 0 | Att: 13,788 | The EFL Championship

There's a big Nissan factory there mind...

Parts of the NE are actually quite pretty according to a mate of mine who lived in Sedgefield for a bit, overall I'd rather be down here.
My great granddad moved to Swansea from Sunderland as a small child. Family of shipwrights. He went on to be a Cape Horner many times over.

It's funny because I met my wife in Wiltshire in 2019 (through work) and now her entire family have moved down. It's a calmer way of life and certainly compared to Wiltshire a more cost effective way of life.

You're certainly right that we take it for granted. Beaches on door step, plenty of shopping. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else until I retire and can spend 6 months of the year in Spain perhaps.

Wilts is very sleepy

Perhaps with LOB his baby being born down here - if his missus has come down too - might make him feel more at home?

Worse places to raise your child and he's in his prime.
Mmmmmn Caswell Bay, Rhosili , three cliffs or Huddersfield?? It’s a tough choice innit. Money is key obviously but a big performance related contract and a nice home down here and who knows?
He certainly may have had reservations about coming here but it sounds like he was running the show today and not moping . Maybe he likes it here. I for one certainly hope he does!
It feels (reading this thread) that a massive doom cloud has been lifted off the players and they responded. I’m so happy to read everyone posting so positively

For me I would agree with all of this except maybe.

Kukharevych, Darling. Congreve. Yates.

Yates needs to go. 1 Year Left come summer.

Darling. Won't stay. But can only hope.

Congreve. Doesn't do it for me. Never really saw the player people saw in him. Yes I hear he is playing well now. But not for me personally.

Kukharevych - Not given enough chance with us. Would like to see what he has and gives us something we don't have. Big man up front.
Who knows, Yates and Kukurayvich might thrive under a different manager. Look at the rest of them today

We won’t be getting O’Brien. His (expensive) job is to help make sure we stay a championship club, and get himself game time. His sights will be set higher, and ours lower. The Swedish guy will replace him.

Today was a huge statement.

Would love to keep him. Think he's levels above and the type of experienced player at this level we need if we are to challenge in the future.

Durham is gorgeous

The NE is firmly on the list of places that Mrs. Winston and I would like to explore. She's vaguely related to Bobby and Jack Charlton (Grandmothers were cousins or something like that) so it's a bit of an ancestral thing for her.

Durham looks gorgeous. Bamburgh too.

I spent some time traveling up the east coast a while back, there are a lot of really beautiful areas up there, including stunning coastline, some of which is very similar to what we have. Northumberland in general is a beautiful part of the country; can’t go wrong up there.

He made it very clear that she was staying in Huddersfield in one of his first media interviews, said he didn't want a welsh baby (it was a bit of banter so sounds worse in print...)
Seemed like a little dig at Grimes for saying he has 3 Welsh kids 🤣

As shown yesterday, it appears that the days of Pepball may be over. Thank god. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c20l7lw3ypzo

I don't think it's over, I think it'll still work for the biggest clubs, but hopefully what it is the end of is the insanity of clubs like us pissing about with inverted full backs and asking carthorse centre backs to play out from the back.

You can't cut and paste extremely refined and complicated tactical models onto squads with inferior players who aren't capable of playing it. That's what has infected English football in the last 5-10 years. Fingers crossed it's on the way out now.

The Gegenpress style of high intensity high position press has been on the rise for a few years now and while it is not a direct counter to the Pep style of Tiki Taka football its as close to a natural enemy as it has.

This has reached a head this season, Man City's struggles are well documented and we have seen ourselves with our more limited stock of players than Man City has that we would come undone super easily under sustained high press, giving up high quality chance after high quality chance.

The Gegenpress also requires (without being harsh to the players) a less refined style of player who is specialized to play in a very specific way. It also better encourages free thinking and flair to not let attacks break down and slow down when the ball is won
