If Plaid do win on Thursday, is it an immediate change of government? Chances are they will need to go into a coalition which could take a few days to agree, but then straight in after that?
No. I think the Senedd will have to reconvene before any formal handover of government though as the Senedd elects the first minister. All that has to be done within a month of the election I believe. It’s not like a Westminster election which is pretty brutal. Lose and you’re gone overnight.

Yeah that’s why I was asking as I had it in my head somewhere that it wasn’t an immediate straight swap but couldn’t think why, the link that FBC posted was perfect.

So if Plaid win, do they go into coalition with Labour?
They may not need to if the figures in that poll are reflected on Friday. They won’t have a majority but no Welsh government has ever had a Senedd majority. With 43 seats they could probably govern as a minority government negotiating with other parties on a vote by vote basis.

Whatever happens please Wales don’t have Farage on the senedd steps grinning. Come on give your head a wobble.

Again if those poll figures turn out to be accurate, 53% of the Welsh electorate will vote for left leaning parties (Plaid, Labour, Green). 59% if you want to include the LibDems. Despite all the noise Reform and the Tories barely mustering 38% combined.

But yeah. Let’s see what Friday brings.

Counting not starting until Friday morning so could be a long day…
I hadn’t realised that. I heard someone on the radio complaining that Scotland were putting theirs off until Friday but assumed we’d be counting overnight. I suppose it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

I hope we reject hate (I’m not optimistic) but other than that couldn’t really give a fugg. I don’t think we have enough autonomy from Westminster to make sweeping changes, so this isn’t that important, but I still don’t want a bunch of incompetent virgins spunking money up the wall on Union Jacks and banning any projects aimed at giving all of us a fair chance.

I’m pretty certain that they did it in 2021 too (although that might have been linked to Covid)

Makes more sense to me. Likely to get more engagement on TV and other media when the results are coming out and I’d imagine easier to get people to do the counting etc at a sensible hour the next day.

Wife is doing her usual stint as a poll clerk in Tycoch. She has her instructions that she’s not allowed to wear red, blue, light blue, green or orange. It’ll be black and white as usual.

Left leaning party maybe (plaid)

But no way are many of their voters left wing.

They attract from all wings because in the end primary goal is independence.

In fact many plaid supporters are right wing if anything.

I’m not arguing but the facts remain.
