I agree with a lot of the comments above - this seems to be a calculated action. A very succinct statement from the club, with one real message: the appointment process is in hand.

The way the club managed the Snoop announcement, the third kit release, suggests that we're thinking in more business-like ways, and managing to prepare 'deals' fully before a big reveal.

Furthermore, the money we spent in the summer shows that the owners are happy to commit big figures to secure progression. I wouldn't be surprised if the next gaffer is someone we would assume we couldn't afford.

🤣

I think you are suggesting a certain someone, someone who we are familiar with but surely the finances are too much.

Would be a real statement and would go down well with fans. He wouldn't take any shit from people and he would be like a messiah to the owners.
I suspect the same name is in your head as mine but every time I think it could be a thing, I turn around and get back to the same part as you reference the finances are too much

But then again we are attracting new investors and who is to say that that may involve multi millionaires from anywhere? All I feel is (and its a gut feel) that something changed in 24 hours (as Lisa said the press reported on Monday what they were told to report) and that suggests to me that something changed elsewhere.

And we don't have anyone in charge of football operations ...

I’m no doubt reading too much into the brief statement put out by the club, but the language used in the line ‘The process to appoint a new head coach is already under way’ stood out to me.

If you squint your eyes, that could be interpreted as they already have their guy and are in the process of appointing them…? Clubs usually use language that says they are about to embark on some great odyssey to traverse the globe for suitable candidates etc. Our statement jumped straight to ‘process to appoint is already underway’?

Add to that the absence of mention of an interim…

Reading it the same way as you. They're clearly optimistic about filling the job during the international window.

If they are the kind of people that we think (maybe just hope) that they are then they should have a selection of alternatives available for every meaningful position at the club, so it's just a case of setting the gears in motion when a vacancy opens up.

Given the turnover in the role here and elsewhere it's kinda mad that most times it seems like the need to find a new manager whenever a team needs to comes as a bit of a shock, resulting in the kind of scramble that you mention.

Rodgers on paper would be outstanding but you know they say never go back so I’m worried it wouldn’t work out second time around.

Also do you think Rodgers would pull in people to fill the ground again?

The club is a shambles... our contract payoffs would make interesting reading on continuous poor manager appointments.

2 penalties and Zan disallowed goal in 3 games - 5 points robbed
Hull 20 secs left equalize - 2 more points gone
How any other times the opposition scored in dying minutes
How many worldies have been scored against us so far compared to how often you see one.

On another day we would be in the top 6

Quality still crap but fine lines. Just sayin
I totally agree with your last 2 lines Martyn 👏, especially the last line.

BR would be an absolute amazing appointment, in my eyes and feel that there would definitely be a bounce in attendance and excitement around the place 😀

But aren't quite a high percentage of games decided by fine margins. Isn't that the nature of the game and of refereeing decisions? In the Prem the use of VAR has made the margins even finer.

BTW, I only got back last night after 5 days in hospital under the influence of some pretty strong painkillers and only just now have found out that AS has been sacked so quite a lot to catch up with. Finger on the pulse me :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I think the 'worldies' point is highly incorrect. We've conceded some decent goals, but look at what we've scored ourself over the last 6 weeks. Nothing but goals from distance or wonder strikes, as we created absolutely bugger all

We’re certainly play off possibles if only we had one or two better players across the line behind the striker. Chuck Sinclair in this team and we’re not having this conversation. All of our attack is down the wings and Eom and Ronald just aren’t good enough. And when it goes through the middle, Cullen isn’t good enough either. They rarely affect games.

I thought the foundation through the rest of the team was there, but what do I know. We need another RB and we’ve got loanee kids providing cover at CB and LB, so a bit light. We miss Grimes. Stamenic is ok, but not at the same level. Galbraith is class. Franco’s a good pain in the arse to have, but lacks quality in possession.

We’re average to reasonably good except for lacking power and precision immediately behind the striker (both of which are fine even if we over-paid for Idah).

That’s my take anyway. It feels like we’ve thrown in the towel here when we only needed incremental changes. Hopefully I’m wrong and we’ll get someone in who takes on a 2+ points a game run for the rest of the season.
Maybe we should try and mix our game up a bit. Laudrups sides could murder sides down the middle.
Like under the last 3 managers we were utterly predictable and very easy for opposing sides to figure out and shut down.
The poorest XG in the division underlines that.
