Some thoughts about the team following Friday's game:

1. RB - This issue must be solved sooner than later. Putting EG as a RB means that he is missed dearly in the middle of the park. Key is too slow and that is something you can't teach. sell him and bring a decent replacement (and send Parker on a loan).

2. EG - I think his foul on LO was meant to send a message. He knows that LO was a fan's favorite and this was a "I'm the new sheriff in town" kind of foul (although I am not sure that the injury was something he wanted to happen). I cannot remember when the last time was, when we had such a complete player like EG and it's a riddle how we managed to put our hand on him. let us enjoy him while we can, he is not going to stay here for long.

3. Idah - had a very decent game last Friday and deserved to score after a good pressure on the keeper. Vitor M. sent some clues about him, I am optimistic.

4. Widell - See section 3. It is clear that he still needs to adjust to the pace and physicality of the championship, but his improving curve is positive. There is a player in him and i would love to see him as No.10 more often.

5. Stamenić - Very technical and reads the game well but too soft too often and doesnt play touch and go. For me, the jury is still out.

6. Inoussa - Like Stamenic', The jury is still out. So far, He looks like somewhat an improved Bianchinni.

7. Cameron Burgess - played more minutes than any other player and is looking tired and overplayed (Hence the mistake’s lately). maybe he needs some rest to regroup himself.

8. Vitor Matos - There is something fresh and exiting since his arrival. no doubt about that.

Mery Christmas.

P.S.

Kyle Joseph: we didn’t want him, now he is an established part of a team positioned 4th in the table. Let’s hope that we will make a better use of Bobby W.

Watching Galbraith’s interview after the game. It’s clear he doesn’t want to play RB. Obviously he said he will play wherever he is ask and so he should.
Would love us though, to see if we can get a real quality RB in Jan though, if there’s any money left.

Good post, enjoyed your comments, but had to laugh at Point 2. I thought EG was incredibly rash with that foul (won't call it a tackle) and as somebody else said, that could easily have been a red card.

I respect your opinion but I beg the differ. At least we agree that he is a wonderful player 🙂

Personally feel Ethan's tackle, foul was just an ill timed challenge on a wet surface, he's put similar challenges in before. I doubt very much he's bothered by ex players.

It was a very poor challenge and wouldn't have been surprised if it had been a red card.

We certainly need a new RB.
Burgess is a solid pro but limited and was signed primarily for his age and experience because of the fact that we were losing one or 2 experienced players from last season.
We over stocked with central midfielders all very similar in style.
We got 4 wingers in who all prefer the ball to feet when we needed atleast one with real gas who is prepared to run onto the ball.
Idah doesn't offer us that no 9 who can play up top by himself, we made an error there BUT he is a player who can bring something from a wide position and can play alongside someone up top.

The squad has potential, we just had a disjointed summer with recruitment and these few months have highlighted this and I'm hoping we can use these signs as a good thing going forward.

RB
CB
Winger with genuine pace
The above are needed for me, I don't think all are needed in this upcoming window(RB for sure).

We need to be loaning Wales,Parker and Santos out. I would even say that if we got someone to take Santos permanently then all the better.
Benson needs to be waved goodbye to Burnley.

A good point above from a post regards Inoussa and Bianchini. I believe that we could have stuck with Bianchini rather than brought Inoussa in, it seems like an incoming and outgoing with no real change in outcome...hopefully Inoussa moves up the gears. I firmly believe that Matos might have some real interest in Bianchini when he comes back given his desire to bring some speed and directness into our attacking play...we might even see Bianchini return if Benson goes back.

How did Idah have a good game? He only came on in the 87th minute, so apart from the 10cm tap in, what did he do?

I’m not picking fault, I just didn’t see the game, hence the question.

I wouldn’t say he had a good game as you say, he was only on a few mins.
In that time though, he did hold up the ball well and played a nice pass out for EOM or someone to shoot and scored.
I would say he had a good camio appearance.

Regarding Idah: manage to handle two defenders to give a very good pass to EOM who sent it over the bar. And you need some football sense to be in a place where all you need is to tap in the ball. A decent cameo for me (Never wrote “good” 🙂)

This will hopefully build some confidence and silence a few of his critics a little.

One more thing about deliberate fouls: Roberto Carlos, Maybe one of the best LB ever played, used to make some tough tackles at the beginning of each game on the attacking player he was facing, which many times ended in the attacking player moving more to the center - which made him the problem of the CB’S and the DM and gave RC a relatively free channel to run to.

Now, all i said is that for me, EG is a very intelligent player and knew exactly what he was doing, even if the end result was a bit too much. But the most important thing is that he is needed in the middle and the club should address the RB issue ASAP.

I still think there's mileage in playing Casey at RB so we can move Galbraith back inside.

The priority for January must be wide players, the ones we have are lightweight, no end product and have no ability to beat a man on the outside. Stick a Montero or Nathan Dyer-type in this side, and we'd improve dramatically overnight.

All our best loved wingers over the years have been ripped apart at various stages of them playing for us, on here / social media, including Hernandez, Dyer and Routs. Lower league wingers are generally very flakey.
