With the almost earning potential women have and higher age of life expectancy over men I'm surprised parity has not been with men over retirement policy

Yes indeed, I wasn't aware it was aligned.

Looks like it will increase by one year for both in 2026

For people who do a physical job having to work even longer into their 60's will be a challenge.

Someone said that for a senior citizen's pension there are three people of working age paying for it. If the pension goes up, then their taxes go up. I'm finding it hard to understand why the Triple Lock is so sacred when 20 and 30 yr olds are finding it so tough. It's not as if it's been around a long while, didn't Cameron create it?

Absolutely, my missus took almost 20 years out, to look after our daughter, our circumstances were such that we had no other choice.(And to be clear we'd do it all over again). She will only receive a minimum state pension, when she eventually retires.

There was an article about pensions on the Radio Wales pension show last Wednesday. They spoke a lot about women who had been stay at home mums between the early 1980’s and 2010 and who had not had the NI credits for being stay at home mums registered against their NI contributions. If your wife was at stay at home mums between between these dates it’s worth listening to the feature on BBC Sounds.
