Matched Brendan's 2010-11 points total,

How the Mary mother of God did he do that

Discuss, it's impending doom in the play offs surely

Like Monk giving us our highest PL finish!

I think we look back at Potter's tenure with the last 6 weeks home matches at the front of our minds.

We lost 7 away games in a row around Feb-Apr under him that season too, by some pretty big scorelines too.

There's definitely a bit of a rosy tint to the Potter era with most. I think what generates it is the idea that we were building towards something. Progressing as a club in the direction most people wanted to go, even if the results weren't quite there yet.

With Cooper there's no real sense that we're building towards anything. Just grinding out points in the most boring way possible. That's hard to get all misty eyed about.

We had a massive soft underbelly with Potter in charge. Countless games where we played and passed teams off the park only to be cut open and concede. We will never know if we were heading in an upwards trajectory under Potter, what we're about to get a good idea of is whether Cooper has another gear to go through.

The cliché will tell us that it’s a results driven business and in this respect we have equalled the points total of the last promotion season. Points in the bag over entertainment value? Yes, every time.

Going to have to disagree with you there, if I had to watch a repeat of any of the last 5 seasons it would be Potter's, even though result's wise he was not the best.

And what if Cooper takes us up via the playoff's?

Bit like Roberto arriving in Feb 2007, leading us to just 1 defeat in 11 games and almost making the playoffs (missing out because we lost 6-3 on the final day!). It's a shame we never got to see if Potter could build on that strong finish in the way Martinez did.

If we somehow go up this season, then it's clearly a better season than Potter's was. In fact it already is no matter what happens in the playoffs. If we get a point at Watford and go up then it's technically a better season than promotion under Brendan too.

Doesn't change the fact that we've been boring as hell to watch for about 80% of the season mind.

We were starting to play football again. Attacking, passing football. It may not have led to an upward trajectory, but teams who play good stuff rarely struggle at this level. Ultimately Potter's reign will forever go down as a what might have been if he'd had the bottle to see the job through.

Cooper may be racking up the points, but much like Monk in the 14/15 season you wonder how sustainable it is playing the way we're playing. I believe that he's tremendously fortunate that the stadium is empty at present because he'd be under a lot more pressure if his team had served up some of the same tedious shit in front of a paying audience.
