Agreed. Yates more than good enough as back up
Yates as backup is a retrograde step. He just isn't good enough teams he plays for finish in the bottom half of the Championship and flirt with or get relegated.

Why do you think Derby are not chomping at the bit for him ?

London and the new manager at QPR is a big pull for Poku was doubtful it would happen anyway, he’ll want to work with their new manager considering the players he developed when he was in France, once linked to us and apparently came to watch a game down here by @magicdaps10

With when his birthday is it is since he is out of contract next week.

If he signed for another club before he turns 24 then compensation is due
If he signed for another club after he turns 24 then the Posh are due nothing

Of course any club that really wants him would never risk waiting 6 weeks for his birthday in case someone else gazzumps them. But the chairman demanding millions in compo for a league one player when it will go to a tribunal in any case is unrealistic to say the least
They’ve dropped a giant bollock this year.
I’d have taken Kyparianou, Ricky Jade Jones and Poku here.

Seen one or two people calling it a Premier League level manager appointment which I find funny because he could have just as easily ended up here. Looks like the level of club that was looking at him was mid-table championship if the rumours linking to us were true. Also a few saying “why would he go to Swansea” regarding Poku when QPR have finished below us 6 times in the last 7 seasons. Yes London is a draw, fair enough but it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see him choose to come here in my opinion.

Have we ever won a player chase when 25 other clubs are interested?
Don't think we'll get Poku
Good target though

cheaper to live down here and when many footballers come down here they end up loving it here.

I wouldn't complain if we signed Poku, but is it needed? We have lots of cover now. And we still don't know if Ginnerly is going to kick on. We have Bianchini, Eom, Govea, Ronald, Parker, Zeidane, and I might be missing someone? Also all of this McBurnie talk. Is he really going to take a massive pay cut at his age going from a few years ago - being sold for a lot of money to suddenly taking very little - to a club he loves? This might be his last big pay day. I might be wrong. I think we are looking for a Striker, Midfield and Defense. From what's being reported. But not the above.

mf x 2

McBurnie's worth is somewhat dipped over recent years, couple of relegations and injuries i think would get us into his wage expectations.

Unless Hull are chucking mega bucks at him.

You missed Congreve
Parker apparently is more of a right back / wing back than a winger or so I've been told (uncertain of the truth of it)

But yes right now discounting Eom who it seems likely will operate as a 10 and if we look at Parker as a right back option we have 6 wide players (Bianchini, Ronald, Inoussa, Ginnelly, Govea, and Congreve) competing for 2 spots in the XI and 2 spots on the bench

Ginnelly has also played as a 10 in the past, but huge question marks over his fitness remain regarding whether or not we can count on him

Congreve. Totally forgot. Let's hope that comes back to bite me as this will be his make or break in my eyes season for us. I think we should now be looking to concentrate on midfield (OB Replacement) , striker and defense. Keeper will be interesting. Fisher has 1 year left. It's now or never with him. Sell or lose money next year. Fulton too.

Yates is a HARD NO for me. We speculate on the worth of players we have hardly seen..with Yates we have a lot of hard evidence on what he offers. Here is my summary
1. No pace
2. Hard worker in the press
3. Totally incapable of winning physical challenges
4. Uses the ball quite well when he gets it
5. Scores about once a month from open play on average
6. Scores in bursts of 2-3 games then the guns fall silent
And here is the disqualifier for me
7. Is constantly on his heels and fails to react quickly - and fails with movement in the box to offer a target or get in front of defenders
Needs to be sold - and i would take ANY reasonable offer.
