Summer Transfer Window

with the people now in place who seem to know what they are doing lets just wait and see what the powers that be come up with, with financial constraints we all are aware of dont expect too much and hope we all can be plesantly supprised, as others have said come july the 1st we should see movment both in and out, feeling more positive than years gone by tho

Are we still in or need a striker?

Vip
Cullen
Wales

Is Wales a younger version of McBurnie?
I get your point. Though, Cullen even though a top scorer is more a number 10, Wales is untested and VP didn't hit the mark all the time. We need someone who will slot into this position without an adjustment period. McBurnie would fit right in. So I understand if he is an option.

Linked to Bobby Clark again.
We came quite close to getting him in January. He was talked about after the winter window.
We were in for him on loan and things went a bit Pete tong(not sure what end) and Bayern had reached their limit on outgoings loans.
On the Williams interview after the window, he alluded to Coleman coming in to sort out the mess a couple of days before the window closed and was even trying to sort the Maths out on. Permanent signing of Clark(was never likely going to happen was it)

I don't think we will be back in for him is my guess.

My understanding is that Clark plays wide - 7 or 11- rather than 6 or 8
Something went wrong with the transfer at their end, I think they sold or released too may players so that by the time the transfer to us came close to happening, they were left with no cover, and then pulled it

Before I start this post - lets get straight that I am a HUGE McBurnie fan - if he is 80% of what he was he will improve our team immeasurably.
HOWEVER, playing devils advocate:
1. He hasn't scored goals in a long time
2. Is not recognized as a first choice striker at National level
3. Has a colourful off field rap sheet
4. Has been out of sight and out of mind for quite a while.
All of these items should weigh on the financial package he can demand - add to that quality of life (plainly loves the City) and what he can buy for the money in our area...
He could make more investing his stash in Property down the Gower than his salary

I think his all round gameplay offers alot more to the team not forgetting the commitment he’ll offer us, as another poster pointed out we had a goalscorer in Piroe and didn’t finish top half with him.

Although his lack of goals in Spain he’s been praised for his time there, he’s now married with a kid so his off field antics won’t be happening if he came back imo.

In relation to your points:

1: he got 3 goals and 6 assists over the equivalent of 20 games in a side that got relegated last season, from what I saw from highlights he was utilized more as a false 9 to bring the other players into play

2: I rarely take Scottish call ups as a golden standard, they have a bizarre history of ignoring exceptional players some of which never saw any caps at all over their whole career

3: Since moving abroad and settling with his partner and having kids his off field behavior has done a complete 180

4: Not really sure what point there is here to rebutt

I would love to see McBurnie back and I hope it happens

You can't judge a player or a person based on being younger. He was in and out of the Blades team and the Las Palmas fan liked his contribution. I think he has settled and a point to prove.

In fact it was Coleman who wanted Clark, which is why after the window Adam Worth etc was promoted to Head of Recruitment with the big reshuffle under new ownership

Also it is now clear as day Williams criticisms were purely to try and save his own skin with how the window has gone so far this summer. Huge improvement
