Summer Transfer Window

You’ve learned nothing. You’re regurgitating rumours. Just because you repeat them they don’t become true.
Opinions vary, we will simply have to agree to disagree.

In my opinion Jay Fulton isn't up to the standard that it looks like the ownership are looking to build the squad up to. He is slow both in pace and in his reading of the game, is clumsy in the tackle and collects yellow cards like Guardiola collects trophies and he doesn't offer anything to the squad to carve out a niche for himself where you could say "he does x better than anyone else in the side"

None of those are regurgitated rumours, those are my thoughts based on actual observations from watching Swans matches. Of course right now there is no way to say that Galbraith is better than Fulton, or that Widell is better than Fulton because we have yet to see them play in a Swans shirt against Championship standard opposition.

Similarly there is no way to know for a fact what the thoughts on Sheehan or the owners are regarding his place in the squad and whether or not he fits in their plans. Talk of Plymouth wanting to sign Fulton a few weeks ago could be agent talk or the club using outlets to get his name out there to let clubs know that he is available.

And just to add, don’t bother linking me to some website listing wages as I ain’t interested in those neither. Show me his wage slip and you’ll have my attention.
Its convenient that the only way to "have your attention" would be by breaking the law.
The only person who could legally post his wage slip without repercussions would be Fulton himself

I’ll repeat, I have no feelings either way on him staying or leaving. It’s the nonsense that posters are thinking they know what wages he’s on.

Didn’t say it was the only difference. You’ve created a strawman.

You said the massive difference. Like everything else was just tinkering. O'Brien was certainly a significant upgrade on Grimes, but if we'd kept doing the same things under Sheehan that we had under Williams then he'd have had a much lesser impact.

Don't take my word for it. Listen to the recent interview with Eom for example. One of our other best performing players during the run in. Sheehan had a huge influence on the way he improved as the season progressed. That's got absolutely nowt to do with LoB.

Well there you go then.

No I’m not going to use an unknown metric to hammer one of our players, no chance.
No one is hammering anyone, or at least I’m not.

I find this discussion genuinely bizarre.
People are allowed to say they don’t think one of our players is good enough you know, it’s not hammering them. Nor is it hammering them to say he is on a higher salary than he gives us in return. The same has been true of loads of players. It’s also been the case that some players have given us far more than they are paid.

And other people are allowed to say that people using his assumed wages to judge whether he should be here or not or is genuinely bizarre. It works both ways doesn’t it? Or does it only work like that if we agree with the people saying it.

I remember having a similar drawn out conversation on here about Naughton years ago. That person then popped in my DMs telling me it’s true, because he had massive wages and wasn’t good in the dressing room his days were numbered. That was incorrect as well.

You know Sheehan was with us throughout Williams as manager right? So doing that period he had absolutely no influence? He was being paid for doing sod all?

O’Brien’s ability was almost immediately game changing. That in itself created confidence, an ability for other players to be able to play their roles rather than cover for the utter shambles in midfield, and that created more confidence. The game is enormously impacted by confidence, or belief it you prefer to call it that.

Anyway, this isnt yet another discussion about how shit you think Williams is. We know.

Of course people can say that. But I’m reacting to you claiming people are hammering him when it’s quite clear they aren’t.
You didn’t have a conversation with me about Naughton so it’s not relevant.

I'll just leave this thread with one bit of data. If the "massive difference" to the side was Lewis O'Brien, it's kinda odd that we lost two out of the first three games in which he played, all under Williams, whereas we we won two and drew one of the first three games immediately following Sheehan's appointment as caretaker.

Okay so you have an issue with me using the term hammering. Got it.

Actually it was you, it was the only time that you have sent a DM to me. And I’m definitely not going to go back and fore with you about it as you’ve already convinced yourself that it wasn’t you.

Genuinely, unless I’m going mad, I’ve just checked my DMs and the only time we have ever sent a DM to each other was about getting a stream for a game where I was asking for help?

It was a long time before we came on this current site. It doesn’t matter anyway, the point being is that we are all told snippets from inside the club, but some of those snippets are put out there for a reason as you well know, and aren’t always necessarily true.

Which is my gripe with so many people on this forum saying things like his wages are at the ceiling level for the club.

Ok. So I’ve just checked Keith’s site for DMs as well as I thought I was going insane and found the one you are talking about.

It’s about Clucas being a nightmare, not Naughton. Naughton was mentioned in the same post as not wanting to stay at the club at that time. (That obviously changed given he was here for years afterwards).
I thought I couldn’t remember saying Naughton was difficult as I’d never heard anything from anyone along those lines.

And I agree in general people hear snippets which may or may not be right or wrong.

My final-ish say on the matter with Fulton. Yes wages are 1 issue, but for me he is not a squad player anymore. And doesn't bring anything to the team. I can give you a hundred other reasons why he should go but he is the last of the old guard. A player who does not fit into where we are going and trying to achieve.
