Carlos looks too expensive ( again!)
Don't think it's him
Good finisher but Swiss league looks to have league 1 standard defenders

I vividly remember Jason price getting some stick for being a shite house from the North Bank back around the 1996/1997 season

It was the 2000/2001 season and it wasn’t because he was a shite house it was because he had refused to sign a new contract and was leaving on a Bosman.

Is he a wow signing?
Safe to assume that has either not materialised or much more likely, it was bollocks all along. It would have to be the slowest transfer deal ever and there's been a few right sagas over the years

Any idea who started the rumour?

I remain convinced that our central midfield is now one of the top 3 in the Championship

Galbraith, Yalcouye, Franco, Widell
Staminic supposedly will be announced on Monday too
I can't see all our top midfielders starting too many games together unless there is some ingenious shape that can accommodate them all but I'm getting the feeling that last season, AS had witnessed our perfomances levels slumping every time Williams made the dreaded Fulton for Franco subsititution which was prettty much every game so we now seem to have invested in a number of very good midfielders to ensure that we can always have one on the bench who can come on and add to or change the tactical dynamics without the energy levels dropping or simply to replace one who is tiring or taken a knock. I can't remember how long ago we last had that sort of luxury. Probably Laudrup era.

He was a target for the North Bank well before that. Definitely an escaped goat.
Always liked JJ & it used to really p1ss me off.
Ditto, I thought he was a great player for us and was disappointed when he left. I remember John Hollins used to start him at full back, the in the second half bring on another full back and move him up to attacking midfield, which inevitably caught the opposition totally by surprise, suddenly having to confront this whirlwind coming at them.

Your post prompted me to look him up on Wiki, and his story after us was an amazing read. He must have set the record for number of clubs played for in his career, including the mighty Almondbury Woolpack FC!

Coates was a very good player too. Probably the best ball player in that squad. Much as I liked Alsop, he would literally look around after heading a ball to see which direction it had gone in.

Anyway, back on the transfer topic, I am encouraged by Keith’s posts. Sounds like we will have some striker news soon.

I think he played as an attacking midfielder after he left us, was it for Hull?
