Transfermkt can only be used as a guideline and isn't a 100% accurate site as far as stats are concerned. Sometimes they are accurate, other times they aren't.

Kevin Carlos market value around 4.5m euros, transfer fee around 6m euros to sign for Nice from Basel
Willem Geubbels market value around 10m euros, transfer fee 9m euros to sign for Paris FC From St.Gallen.
Both players were aged 24 at time of transfer.

Realistically, would Geubbels have been our WOW transfer at 9m euros or would it have been Carlos at 6m euros?
Neither of these

When you consider that no player has been sold, the club's outlay as far as recruitment is concerned is the most amount of cash paid for all of our recruits this summer since relegation from the PL in 2018. How much real cash has been invested in the club by our owners and investors is a figure fans don't know but for us to be interested in paying up to 9M Euros for Willem, even if the payment was spread over the length of the player's contract, and still satisfy FFP tells the real story of how much has been invested.

Will certainly have been a low initial payment with the rest over the length of the contract.
They seem to have either something lined up with income off the pitch or relying on getting making a profit on some players.

This is why we have narrowed down our categories for a striker, we will be looking for a younger player capable of making a profit on and will likely be looking for someone 25 and younger. This might change as the window gets closer.

This wow player hasn’t been linked in the media has he?
Does this WOW player actually exist or was it just fan talk? I genuinely don't know.

I have also said, I don't believe that none of these players were bid for or we were not interested in. They have come from several sources to suggest that atleast some of it was/is correct.
Nothing wrong with going for high calibre player and missing out, shows good ambition.
Get back on the horse and go again.

Just read that, cracking read that Phil 👏

I have read some cracking twitter threads from young Swansea fans who have mentioned this guy and several other options over the last few months.I thought "no chance we get these types of players" so fair do's to the negotiators at the club to have even got close to this one.

The club could do worse than have a look at some of these guys on twitter and their threads.....there is one who has been doing it for a few years and alot of those players are now worth quite a bit.

I don’t think there has ever been a ‘wow’ player personally and Geubbels probably would have been the closest thing to it

I agree with this. For our level, that was probably him. The timings of him moving elsewhere kind of tally up with Sheehan (maybe he was on about Carlos but then that didnt happen).

Either way, I would still rather the club aim high and pinpoint the highest level and suited striker we can, even if it means sticking until January with what we've got as long we don't continue spunking more 2.5mill type increments on Myko / Yates etc.

Unless we can get ourselves someone who will pretty much guarantee us goals, I'd rather us keep the cash and splash out a bit next summer on the right man
Whoever they get, they will hope and be confident in but unfortunately it can't be guaranteed.
We need to be confident, strong and just go for it.

There’s no better time than now to be pushing on

If our mindset is to wait until next summer for a better opportunity we won’t get anywhere.

You are absolutely correct, if one or two of our midfield signings really step up , and it looks very promising they will, they could well be sold on , like Flynn Downes was and then we will be back to square one.

I agree to some extent but if we want to make some sort of statement this season we need a striker. Otherwise we will be floating mid to bottom of table. It's a dilemma either way
