Swansea documentary in the works

It seems the way to go, celebrities in with a football team and a TV camera.
Not a fan of it myself,certainly quite cautious of the scenario at Swansea but it's the modern thing and probably just a sign of me getting old.

It’s a case of not moving with the times, rather than getting old. That’s not meant as an insult either, just highlighting that times change. It’s not just football, of course; the IPL has revolutionised how cricket is seen through the eyes of fans.

Which player takes a star turn? Based on in-house interviews I'd expect Vigs as he seems the quickest on his feet and pretty charismatic. Wouldn't rule out Widell, Cabango, or Key though

Could you imagine the jealousy down the road if this rivalry between us and Wrexham really takes off and they are stuck mid table and Tan is still hanging on to the club.

‘This rivalry’ between us and Wrexham will only ever exist in the minds of people that wouldn’t be able to point out Swansea on a map. Probably Wales.

Together with the breathless ‘Snoop is following x on socials’ posts, this sums up for me everything that we’ve lost - football clubs are rapidly becoming absolutely nothing to do with the communities they were such an integral part of and are becoming everything to do with attracting the mighty international markets.

It’s a great shame in my view. We won’t know what we’ve lost until they’ve completely gone.

It's simply the latest evolution in the ongoing attempt to keep the football bubble from bursting.

Yes it's sad, but the game keeps attracting increasingly wealthier and wealthier people who have nothing better to sink their dollars into (without even considering using all those dollars to help their fellow man but thats another topic)

The Sunderland one was very good, ours will no doubt follow Wrexham and Birmingham efforts, and will try to further the nonsensical rivalry through famous yanks associated with the clubs.

Games completely gone, and seeing fans lap this shite up just makes it worse.

The premier league has killed traditional football, and our spell there has made a good many of our fans proper delusional to boot.

Completely understand the hesitancy around stuff like this but.... We do have a story to tell, climbing the divisions having players jump leagues with us to play in the prem rivalling stats with Barca and City... winning the capital one cup... playing in Europe. If done properly I think it could get a lot of eyes back on us and get new people behind the club. The game evolves but if we can do it properly I think it's exciting times!

There has already been one version of that giving praise to those who deserved it less than those who were ignored. And that story is the past not the present.

The reality is that our story was a special one until we also became just another club with owners from afar. Now we are no different to any one else.
Where we would have won out is if we’d remained under local ownership and continued to progress. That would have indeed been a story of interest. A real rival story to that of rich film stars with no connection to the area buying a club and generating success through the unique approach of having a much higher budget than any of their rivals…

Times change and it is what it is. Doesn’t mean it’s changed for the better. I’m not advocating that we ignore where we are and just disappear without trace btw.

I agree with you but unfortunatly time moves on. I truly hate the way the world nevermind football is, I'd go back to the seventies and my childhood in a flash ( and stay there.)

I bet that the vast majority of the 92 league clubs, if not all of them, do more in the local communities now than what they ever have done. Undertaking community projects and pursuing international markets is not mutually exclusive. The Snoop factor won’t only be aimed at international markets; whilst we are all dyed in the wool fans, our children and our children’s children have other distractions. What’s not cool for me is cool for them.
