All I believe is the absolute fact that any excuse governments have got to make the hard working tax payer to pay more for them to waste and make up the shortfall they've caused, its been making a loss for more years than I can remember I worked in there for over 12yrs and seen and experienced lots of stuff there.

You were correct that I’ve never worked there. My Uncle did (at that works). And my Dad. And Grandad. And great granddad, and great grandmother and her sister. Not all at Port Talbot, but for British Steel and before that the Steel company of Wales. My Dad worked for them when they were out on strike for months when I was young. I remember it clearly.
But they are conning people with the net zero excuse. Neither this government nor Tata Steel give much of a toss about meeting net zero by 2050. As can be seen from the government granting new fossil fuel licences and even aiming to grant new coal licenses. And Tata have a pretty bad reputation environmentally.
This is simply the closure of a loss making business which they subsidised for a long while when they were trying to get a merger off with ThyssenKrupp (prevented by the EU in the end as anti competitive).
The government subsidised the redundancies (effectively) plus the move to the new production which employs far fewer people so is more profitable. They weren’t prepared to pay the amount needed to keep the whole thing going. But not because of net zero, because (a) it would have cost a fortune (b) nationalisation was not an option for them ideologically and (c) it helps massively with the new trade deal they have agreed with India.
This government don’t seem to care even remotely about security of nationally important industry (the only exception being their pretence that new oil fields will somehow secure the UK’s energy needs - it won’t, but that’s a different discussion).
they are the ultimate free marketeers - extreme globalists who only care about making vast wealth for themselves and their mates. Hence huge migration figures, cheap workforce, removal of protections for the population, attempts to reduce standards in environmental issues, food production, employment rights, rights of protest, etc etc etc.
and they’re doing it all while creating culture war based bogey men - boat people, the ‘woke’, and now net zero. It’s the equivalent of the EU being blamed for anything bad for years. They do it in the hope that people who won’t EVER fall into their preferred group of the super wealthy globalist elite will instead decide to fear these new bogeymen and vote for these charlatans anyway.
same as they voted for brexit which was always going to screw them over. There have been interviews with workers at Port Talbot who voted for brexit. The plant’s main customer base was the EU ffs. What did they think was going to happen when trade barriers were erected (and remember that it’s only been a year where these barriers have been up really, which is why these decisions are being taken now).
