I think we went up in the play offs beating Rotherham then Torquay over two legs. I was one of the “Torquay 300” (all the tickets they’d let us have) and got soaked being kept in for ages afterwards in an open away end. Great memories of my first proper away season - 1-4 at orient and 0-1 at league leader’s Northampton Town courtesy of a late goal from either Pascoe , McCarthy or Ian Love
I went to the Rotherham home match. They were in the Division above us. In the early days where the club finishing 4th from bottom in the league above joined the 3 clubs finishing 4,5 & 6th. I think it was 3 automatics. It all change when they decided to play the finals at Wembley. I also went to the home Torquay match. I remember goalkeeper Peter Guthrie being on loan to us from Spurs??? Was that the season when Mike Hughes had to retire because of the bangs he had to his head? I thought Mike Hughes was a really good keeper, it was really sad. Lee Sharp was in the Torquay squad for the away final second leg, I seem to recall?
Yes, I got ahead of myself. I think it was the year where we barely scraped the play-off, but went up.
Aldershot. That Wolves game came straight after by the looks of it but Im not sure if Yorath played in that game. He definitely played at Aldershot.

. I don't know the demographics of this Board, I think there are quite a few who are fully aware of them like me...but are there lots who have little idea ? (maybe apart from Yorath because of his Swansea and Wales connections )

Its a long time ago. Maybe the Aldershot game was what got us the penalty. I know we could barely put a team on the pitch.We beat the leaders Northampton on valentines day and I dont think we won another game all season. The biggest collapse I ever saw. 6 points clear in 2nd to mid table in 2months. Edit: Ok we lost 12 of 16. Managed to win 3. My memory has faded much more than I reallised.
