The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Just watched his interview. Personally I like what he had to say and knows what the situation is as we all do. I'm excited about this more now. Words only and we have to see results, but I am excited about this one.

Guessing the club are sorting his backroom staffs visas out? I’m sure they took charge of the game yesterday for Maritimo.

Wife has just seen his photo and apparently he’s “a well put together young man”.

It’s 👍 here because who am I to argue?

In his interview he talked about the 'Process', called out 'Russell' by name alongside Rodgers, Martinez and Laudrup as key builders of our 'DNA' and talked about 'dominating the ball'. Mmmm.

Biographical information notwithstanding, it's essentially the same interview word for word that everyone's given for years now.

Anyway, talk is cheap, looking forward to seeing what he can do over the next weeks and months. Getting a couple of those Lerpwl kids down here in Jan would be nice, too. And maybe a line of clothing called VMWear (IT joke there for those so inclined).

"The DNA of the club" and the "Swansea style of play" make me a bit nervous to be honest. Impose your own bloody style and get us away from this received Swansea Way shit.

I didn't get that far into it before I got bored. Rodgers, Laudrup and Martinez were all different 'styles'. I don't want to dominate the ball, I want to dominate the opposition on the scoreboard ffs.

Do managers like Matos usually bring many staff with him? I know they have made the work permit system much tougher so will his lieutenants be able to get one from the Portuguese 2nd division?
This is a question I asked yesterday.

Matos himself didn’t qualify for one automatically (you need to have managed for 2 years consecutively or 3 of last 5 years in a top 5 tier club - Portuguese 2nd division isn’t top 5 tiers) but as I said he would get an exemption as clubs always do for managers (at least one or two have failed but very rare).

What I can’t see is how the coaches that were named yesterday get them as they’ve, as far as I can see, not really worked at high senior levels. It may be that they’ll be paid enough to get in that way or it may be that management teams effectively get the nod as ‘one’.

Hopefully the club will sort it soon. It’s a bit odd that we’ve put in Leon and Allen for the time being. I really hope it’s not just ‘give the fans a name they love and they won’t make a fuss’.

Anyway - Matos is here, we have to hope it goes well. As every other manager, I will be fully supporting him.
