• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Southgate is the English Pagey. Crap manager but has better players, so does better in absolute terms, but they both fail miserably to optimise their assets.

England are really stinking out the euros so far. Hopefully the Spain/Italy game later will cleanse the palate.

As I and plenty others on here predicted, really not hard to see that Southgate is out of his depth...been shown time n time again. And is the reason why they won't win it.
If he can't get that group playing then Jesus wept..how bad is he !!

Fair play, given the player resource available, it took some doing to produce that performance today. Kin ell.

Concerned FA Staffer: "Gareth, you're supposed to neutralize the strengths of the opposition team, not ours."
Southgate: "D'oh!"

The media are mental when it comes to England

They didn't smash Denmark off of the park but winning 3 group games in a major tournament is an achievement in itself, they'll go through comfortably but they're having a kicking from the press that's for sure

Indeed. Also not sure how comparisons to Page are deserved given Southgate has led England to a semi-final and a final. He is England's second most successful manager of all time, second only to Alf Ramsey.

With the quality at his disposal he should be sitting there with at least one Euro title and potentially a World Cup final to his name.

The likes of Germany, France and Spain would have beaten the Danes and not hung on to a one nil win against Serbia.

Took an own goal to take the lead, but Spain looking a class act.

Another thing that rankles with me is the lack of entertainment. You watch other nations and it’s enjoyable, not a borefest. Poor old Alan Shearer was ‘tearing his hair out’ after the game in frustration, saying that players like Trent, Kane and Foden were shadows of themselves. Pep has managed to win PL titles on the bounce playing really entertaining stuff.

Perhaps when England play against top level sides and the results can’t be micro managed we’ll get to see them play to their potential.

I'd agree with you with that with this current squad they have a very good chance of winning it. Previous squads I don't think have been that strong, especially the team he took to the 2018 World Cup semi-final. Even this current squad doesn't measure up to the players that Eriksson had at his disposal (Scholes, Owen, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand, Campbell, Neville, Ashley Cole, Hargreaves, Rooney) and he had nothing like Southgate's success.

Who knows how those other teams would have done against England's opponents? Italy only just managed to beat Albania and Spain are making them look awful at the moment.

Southgate is petrified of anyone in his team that shows attacking intent.

The last Euro final was theirs for the taking, Italy were all over the place until Southgate put the hand brake on and tried to project a one nil lead.

I'm not going to argue with that. Be interesting to see if he takes the hand brake off against Slovenia.

Don't think he's got it in him. Wouldn't be surprised if Slovenia sprung an upset and beat them.
