Cullen has chipped in a few goals but his overall performances have been under par especially when he starts and given the lone striker role. He isn't an effective wide player either and there are better players than him who should be ahead in selection. I thought yesterday he was just coasting with little movement and desire and was happy just to give 3 yard passes in non threatening areas. Saying all that, coming on as sub against poor sides when the game is open and stretched he adds some value. He was bullied a fair bit yesterday and lost a lot of possession.
He got caught a few times where he received the ball from Fisher and then proceeded to run into trouble. Only Matos knows why he is setting us up this way, it’s blindingly obvious that there are better options available to us.

Yeah, two players made a point of encouraging Woodward when he came on. Fulton and Ward who came on at the same time, two guys with loads of experience passing that experience on to a debutant. Great to see.

Just looked at the highlights. Anyone noticed how far the wall was, from his fantastic top bins effort? Had to be about 14 yrds
Also, congratulations to the scouting dept.
Was it Adam Worth ?

Yeah the wall looked to be a little more than 10 yards (based on the 6 yard squares) about 11 or 12 yards perhaps?
To put it right in the top corner off the post was sublime

Not that it matters here but I always wondered why the wall doesn't start about 2 yards away from their white line and run to match up with the timing of when the player hits the ball so that when they jump they are actually closing the gap even more making it harder to get the ball up and down over the wall.

His reaction after that free kick was interesting. It seemed to be, big deal, I do that in training all the time.
There were glimpses of something a bit special from him in the second half.

South Stand crew just about getting up the energy to politely applause that goal before they get back to their nap, strewth:LOL:

In a way it was sad that I was at the game as I then missed the last matchday thread.

Jackharris, as you've noted from the posts from so many posters, your contribution to the site has been magificent.

Champs and chumps?
Champs
Idah -his goals to minutes shows us a future post Vip. He has a bit of pace too.
Walta - as above -apart from the wonder goal- he is always looking for the killer ball
Woodward- did not look out of place, and got an assist in roughly 2% of the minutes it takes Ronald to create a chance.
Matos - turned our season around and looks a coach destined for the very top

Chumps
Ronald -see above - he is dreadful consistently. I have no idea how he gets so many minutes
Cullen - not sure quite what he offers. I know successive coaches rave about him - but what is it (apart from the very occasional cool finish) - certainly not pace, physicality or creativity
BIGGEST for me -and I am trying to ignore his background.Nathan fucking Jones! Imagine having to watch your team set up every week to literally deprive the paying public of a game of football. That man is an abomination to the beautiful game
