The Process

Let's not get too carried away. The euphoria after Saturday is understandable but there's every chance that Derby on Saturday could be a turgid affair when they park the bus and attempt to hit us on the break for a 0-1 away win.

RM still has square pegs in round holes, his words not mine, and the next transfer window is extremely important in terms of getting players who are more adept at playing the system.
Sorry Coops, but get it right v Derby it could be a cricket score. Literally point of no return for them, they have to win. They'll come at us....they've no choice not too.

True. A point is no good to Derby, so we have to exploit the opportunities

The point about high pressing is valid. Martinez’s side didn’t have to deal with that because the high press hadn’t reached managers in England then. We didn’t even face it in the Premier League until the likes of Klopp brought his system here. Garry Monk and Ashley Williams we’re fine players for us but I wonder how they would have coped if put under the pressure that defenders are these days.

We’ve had little spells like this before under Martin but we need to keep it up for more than three or four games before reverting to a couple of terrible performances. We’ve been a Jekyll and Hyde team and just a bit more consistency would have seen us in the play offs.

We need a bit more pace in the side to truly make it work IMO. I like Wolf as a player but don't think he's what we need in the role we've used him in. Something for Ogbeta to provide once he's up to speed perhaps.

We're getting the off the ball movement right in midfield slowly. More of an outlet on the flanks will hopefully kick us on again.

Cody Drameh who is on loan at Cardiff from Leeds would be perfect for RWB.

Great result but some of the passing last night was dire. Second half, Christie made a good run down the right in to the box with two waiting on the edge unmarked but instead of passing early and simply he decides to continue until it's impossible to pass through their defender.

After some good possession and progress up the pitch there was another 10 yard pass that was much more difficult to pass to their player than to two of ours, no pressure involved. Guess where it went ? These are just the basic basics of football. So frustrating.

He’s not reinventing football. They’ve started to move after passing and not always passing backwards but looking to attack and get bodies forward. Should have happened months ago. Great to see, but Process, my arse.

I have to disagree with you there, after the turgid, negative and pragmatic football these players had been drilled into playing the previous 2 seasons, where we could barely string 3 passes together, it's quite a process to get to where we are now... everyone comfortable on the ball, playing the ball out from the back, stringing 20+ passes together - and when it works - attacking with pace with lots of movement... for me that's hell of a process... no one has said he's reinventing football, but it's a long way to come from where we were.

Your argument has a flaw....only 4 of last nights starting line up were regulars under Cooper...infact for most of the season there have been more "new" players thanthere were who had been "indocrinated".....

And the football last season was not as bad as portrayed...it just felt that way as there were no crowds or atmosphere in games....

We've had 2 wins on the spin let's not get overexcited. The ''Process '' was in place against Brum and we should have slaughtered. Against Fulham we were. Against some teams we may get a good performance others not so. Derby have to come to us Saturday and have a go and win. Let's see.

3 wins in 4, 4 unbeaten. 3 of the bottom 4 up next.

I agree with your disagreement :D

In the last 2 games, and as a result of more time together during the international break, we seem to be playing the passing game with sharper passes and with better movement. This caused both Cardiff and Millwall a lot difficulty in trying to close us down and meant that we were playing more on the front foot, which in turn made us look a better team.

With seven games remaining and most of those winnable it could lead to a semi interesting end of season. If we could win all seven then we'd probably make the play offs

It doesn’t matter anyway as we’re going up next season

Just once in last 12 years has 75 points not been enough to reach the playoffs. Yes, 99% chance we'll slip up more than once along the way, but whilst 75 is available then we have to go for it.

Just noticed that 5 of our last 7 are at home which is interesting.

Five home games between now and 7th May, a crazy schedule.

With those games we should get a minimum 9 pts from those games if we are to believe ''The Process'' is working. If we don't? Well let's pass judgement then. I'll be more convinced if we go unbeaten against Boro,Bmth and Forest.
