Dan Evans was banned from tennis for a year for testing positive for cocaine. It’s not a shock that an athlete gets banned for using an illegal drug.

Cocaine can make you go quicker marijuana certainly can’t.

K McL... enough said 👀👃

Depends what is in their rules and regulation of the sport, but I'd imagine that the consumption of ilegal drugs results in a ban. Performance enhancing or not.

Silly comparison with alcohol, being as it's perfectly legal.

And I'm all for legalising drugs, or being fair and outlawing alcohol (that will never happen, obviously).

I can't see any rules in Sport that'll allow the taking of any drug that hasn't been prescribed by a Doctor etc, she's done wrong and that wrong brings consequences, what's that saying, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
No sympathy from me, I detest the drug culture that we have today.

Nobody’s saying she hasn’t done wrong she’s admitted it and accepted the four week ban the point is not a performance-enhancing drug and is also legal in some States.

You're going to hate the next 10 years mate. Medical research that was stopped on Cannabinoids and Psilocybin when pharma corps started lobbying governments has restarted in the last few years and they're finding that things that have been used for thousands of years actually has significant medical benefits and are far safer than most of their pharmaceutical alternatives.

She broke the rules, but this rule is stupid. It will change soon enough though. A lot of states are softening the laws on cannabis use and some are legalising it. I don't think we'll be too far behind.

Athletes don't take cocaine as a performance enhancer mun ffs.

That wasn’t the point.

No, the point it that she has taken an illegal substance and has received a rightful ban for it.

Whoever the "big hitters" are, need to get back in their boxes.

I'm not a sport scientist but I can't imagine marijuana makes you run the 100m considerably faster

Of course, rather than a performance issue it is a sponsorship/corporate image concern, especially for the squeaky clean IOC

My post doesn't suit your argument and the facts are that she did wrong, so my point still stands. What may or may not happen in the coming years has no baring on the matter, its the here and now that matters.

I don't doubt that it may have medical benefits, the arrival of CBD oils are testament to that, but its classed has a recreational drug at the moment and is illegal in everyday life and Sport that's my point.
