This Site is Dead

Forums such as this one are a bit passé in the modern era with Twitter and all the other avenues available for posting opinions on anything and everything. There are routes you can take to encourage clicks and posts as can be seen elsewhere but I’m glad this forum hasn’t taken that unpalatable route.

Racism always brings lots of traffic too.

It depends what you want out of it. I like to read and respond to users I respect. Very few of them post now, although there’s a few on this thread. A day can go by without any real posts other than shite from the likes of that goblet thing.

So yes, I think it is sadly a dead parrot just now. The other one is kept alive by alter ego click bait, a compulsive perch, and real political wingnuts. Match days are still ok ish, as surely we have to spout off somewhere.

The football doesn’t help, and I don’t mean the utterly shit dead end Cooperwang. I mean that we are all jaded anyway as we’ve seen it all. The only thing realistically left that we haven’t seen is the other domestic cup. So the excitement of 1981 or ten years ago simply isn’t there except for youngsters that missed it. If we go up, great, it hopefully means a secure future if done properly this time. If not I’ll get over it in less than a couple of hours. It’s not what it was. That said, Cooperwang has killed any hint of enjoyment in the actual games.

Problems with loading site, posting and links

What problems are you getting?

Are you using bookmarked links which can be out of date? Have you tried deleting cookies and cache?

swansnews is the site? It's just the mechanism that posts the news articles...that bit has never changed so to say its not for the fans any more is just plain wrong!

You can easily switch off your view of those posts by adding "swansnews" as a foe and therefore you won't see those topics (as I am so nice and helpful here is the link to do it https://www.planetswans.co.uk/forum/ucp.php?i=zebra&mode=foes&add=swansnews

I love a good Sunday where everyone criticises the hours that go into this site, I'm off to see my mother
Missed my point slightly Phil, or maybe I didn't express it too well. What I was trying to say is in the past everyone was having a go, and we used to have some really crazy posts on here, but no matter how daft some of them may be, they were very much part of the entertainment value of the site, Now I think the very professional approach of posting by swansnews loses something of the character of Planet Swans. We've lost some of the fans views, no matter how stupid they may be they were entertaining to the professionalism of swansnews. Surely the dwindling numbers prove that.

I honestly don't buy that to be honest - its not as if the posts have stopped people making comments etc but you could be right

I think it is as simple as people have slowly moved onto other mediums (Twitter, facebook etc) as others have referenced

I don’t get any problems.
I hope I’m not missing out on some cheeky porn.

Personally I think Darran has driven people away, looking to ban people for Porthcawl, posting about long haired luvvies all the time and bigging up his family constantly.

long haired luvvies

Suspect not being allowed to attend games at the moment has taken something out of supporting the club full stop to be honest, and the quality of football we get to watch isn't inspiring.

Things will pickup when people are allowed back in I reckon.

Dead or not, I like this site and I'm grateful to Phil for starting and maintaining it as the infestation of the old site was definitely beginning to piss me off. Here, there is a sizeable nucleus of posters that I like to read and engage with plus a small number I find so twattish, they are amusing and between them, they meet my forum needs. I don't use Twitter and almost certainly never will and Facebook is just a means to keep in touch with my family members plus the very small number of friends that I actually care enough about and a few pages of various bands I like and/or some of their personnel.

I'm sure the complete stagnation of our football team during the last 3 months has probably caused people to visit this site maybe 20-30% less frequently and I'd probably include myself in that. Maybe Phil can tell if there has been a shift in balance from the football board towards the non-football?

Though seeing as you’re here I seem to have failed in driving all the ćunts away.

Not necessarily a shift in balance, the non football board has probably remained reasonably static, the football board has dropped March compared to February although some of this will come down to an international break and April was higher than March but not as high as February which I would put almost solely down to the declining standard of football.

Apologies if it came across that I was having a go at this site at all... I’m greatful for all the work Phil puts into it and his years and years of commitment.

It’s because I’ve loved posting and reading on here so club for the last 10 years... wasting large parts of my life 😂... it’s just sad that the number of posters and posts has really dwindled.

I take a look at the forums of the teams around us, even Brentford’s from where like Phil, I’ve been banned... and they all seem so much more alive.

It feels like this season has really battered all the life out of us Swans fans more than other clubs.

This forum is poison free too.

The Play Offs approaching for a shot at The Premier League again and it’s absolutely dead on here.

No interest about who we’re playing etc... have people just become completely disinterested and apathetic?

To be fair, there hasn't been a lot to get excited about recently and I'm not expecting much in the playoffs.

We've done well to get this far but are we ready for the Premier League?

As mentioned elsewhere, away from football, the last 14 months has given people a sense of perspective and what's really important in life....
