Todays Dinner

No general coarse fishing, went back to it early this year after 8 yrs or so.
I went back to it last year after being away from it for 20+ years. Only a few times I went mind, Whitesprings, Margam Park and a place down the lanes from Margam over to Maesteg, which I forget the name of. Didn’t go this year as was too busy.

Chateaubriand with braised chickory, chestnuts and mushrooms. Followed by a home baked Prune, Armagniac and Frangipan tart.

Gammon, Mash, beans and a couple of fried eggs. I must admit, I wasn’t exactly over the moon with it, told the wife umpteen times, I can’t stand chewy meat, yet she refuses to cook it in a slow cooker..

Grr my mother always used to cook a gammon joint in a slow cooker, and you could just cut it with a spoon.

I may just buy the slow cooker myself, and as soon as she finishes the rubbish saucepan job, right give it here, and into the slow cooker it goes for another 4 hours. 👍

And btw just to say, this wasn’t really a rant about the wife’s cooking, I think once you have any kind of gammon you can cut with a spoon, it’s more preferable for me, for some reason she cooks it on the chewy side. And thinks that’s the way. It’s not for me, if it doesn’t pass the ten chews challenge, it’s going to our favourite stray cat. 🤣

It into pole fishing, never tried it but it looks shite to me. Never caught a barbel either, never been to a water that has them. Someone told me they are in Whitesprings, not sure if it’s true or not.

I don't think there are any there, they're a river fish and live best in running water, although they feature a lot at the Fish o mania final and that's a lake, White Springs is a decent venue, I did call there for a look around May or June time I think it was, haven't fished there for years though its a Carp venue mostly the Match Lake can be good the F1 Carp there are decent sport, the Canal can produce decent bags of Fish, Pole or feeder/straight lead, float fishing with Rod and line works, but easier with a pole if the bigger fish turn up.

Used to do a lot of sea fishing when my parents had a caravan down Llangennith. JPR had a van just around the corner from us.
Next caravan over to us was Mr and Mrs Jones, they had a daughter that went on to make a name for herself.
Llangennith back in the day was the place to be seen 👀

Went down the Cinnamon earlier and someone had booked a table for 80 but only 76 turned up.

That's alright though? Hell of a booking that, losing just 4 can't be that bad? Damm it, you just had to mention a curry, today has been a disaster for food, chewy gammon, and just recently had a tasteless pizza.

And before that was ordered, I was thinking of a curry as well. But thought don't rock the boat. The price in the end wasn't much different, to what I would expect to pay for a decent curry for the family..

Like the pizza wasn't a bin job, but for 8 quid it was a load of rubbish, even the Asda fresh pizza is better than that.

I won't name the place, but not happy.
