• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Transfer deadline day – what lies ahead for Swansea City? A day of disappointment?

Winston O'Buggle will be along shortly to tell us all that the lack of spending just goes to prove we are a well run club and we didn't need ro strengthen anyway.

Well to be fair, we have replaced mostly what we lost in the summer. Broadly speaking in terms of positions/styles/roles...

Benda - Rushworth (Loan)
Sondergaard - Broome

Manning - Tjoe A On/Someone else to come in?
Lati - Key
Sorinola (Loan) - Ashby (Loan)

Cundle (Loan) - Patino (Loan)
Ntcham - ???

Piroe - Yates
Whittaker - Ginnelly
Joseph - Mykola
Obafemi - ???

Obviously there are some major downgrades there (Piroe/Yates and it's looking like whoever replaces Manning, if we are lucky, will be a downgrade too) as well as some upgrades (Key has looked good, Ashby isn't great but better than Sorinola, we are better with Rushworth than we were with Fisher).

Anything Ginnelly and Mykola contribute will be better than Joseph and Whittaker.

Patino looks like he could be a good player for us too.

We may add a couple of extra players today which will strengthen us a bit too.

Not saying we are in with a shout for promotion mind.

Yates will get 15-20 so not a majorr downgrade in that sense

No, perhaps that was a bit harsh on Yates but we'll see. We have lost a player who has scored 40 odd goals in 2 years so he has some big boots to fill. Having seen him playing with Piroe, it was apparent to me that the two of them were never really meant to be starting games together.

Personally I think Duff's preferred style is going to be one 'natural' goalscorer playing alongside a more powerful/quick forward. So one of Mykola/Ginnelly/New Player alongside Yates/Cullen...

We've gone full circle back to cooper in style and substance. Buying older head cloggers and passing along a baxk three, non existent midfield and the inevitable pump long to two short strikers wit no support

The resemblance (less results) is uncanny

Except that Cooper had Ayew to create & score a goal out of nothing whereas now we don't have anyone at that level.

The question for me in Cooper's seasons was always would he have got the same results with the same "style" if crowds were allowed in for the last 18 months.

I think the answer may well have been no.

We don't know what Duff's style is yet do we? To jump to the conclusion that he's a long ball into channels and hope the oppo miss all their tap ins merchant like Cooper is a bit too early. I don't think he played that way with Barnsley, although I don't really know what he did. Ideally it will be what Martin should have done and actually use the ball by looking forward or when you've beaten the press, not passing back into the press. Anyway, give it a month and we'll soon see. There's no point in fretting about it yet.

Jamal Lowe FFS! Swans agree loan deal with Bournemouth until January apparently

🤣. I quite liked Jamal, when he could be arsed to bother. I certainly don't think he was a fan of running the channels.

Is Jenkins back in the saddle? All these links with ex players. Marvin and Albert next. Phil will be like a pig in muck on the tw@ter.

If Bidwell and Lowe sign, I will be all in on the idea that Duff is a big Steve Cooper fan and is trying to get the band back together.

Would take Lowe over nothing , he worked best when we got it forward quick.
