Summer Window - Early Transfer Talk

Glad you know the intentions and inner workings of our recruitment team. What would we do without you… someone should tell Vitor and his previous team 😂
Relax, I was only joking 😉

That said, its not a given that things are being done correctly. All becomes answered in time so they could well do in time.
We shall see.

I just think Matos will want a more pressing and pacey striker than Vipotnik.

Of the under contract senior players I’d imagine we’ll look to offload Santos, Bianchini and Cooper.

Key might well fancy a new challenge after this season and if the manager/club agree I can see them accepting an offer for him.

Loans for Sam Parker & Bobby Wales would seem sensible with Lissah & Congreve given a chance in the 1st team squad - based on what I’ve seen/heard of this years loans.

I’d be amazed if there’s not a big sale (hopefully just 1) - Vipotnik / Galbraith I’d imagine.

With regards incomings obviously we need to replace the big sales and then bring in a couple of defenders who are capable of starting 20+ games and a wide man who’s hopefully 1st choice and provides goals and assists.

Unless there are a lot of sales I don’t see it being that busy a summer.
Agree with this.

Also, as much as we all want to sign better players, I'd pump the brakes on wishing for a load of new signings this summer. The jury is most definitely out on our recruitment team at this time given a very hit and miss record so far.

I think any team with any recruitment strategy will hit and miss. It’s just the nature of hiring individuals, you can do your very best due diligence but there’s no guarantees. I’d still say we did well in both transfer windows, especially compared to the past few years.

Our recruitment is excellent compared to most other clubs, it’s been a huge upturn in the last few windows. Every club in the world is hit and miss in that department due to the nature of it. Even Brighton are around 40-50% hit and miss rate, and they are considered the best around. There will be many clubs with far larger budgets kicking themselves over Galbraith, Stamenic and Walta in particular and we have got them all in less than 6 months of eachother.

We also have to be aware of the changes in tactical approaches of each manager, some managers will want a certain type of player and then the next will want another, even if it’s a similar type of game plan. What works for one may not for another. Burgess for example I think works under a low possession model like Sheehan but may be a bit exposed under Matos. The club need consistency in manager and tactical approach so the players continue to be of use. I expect with Sheehan now out of the picture, any new manager after Matos will be closely uniform in style.

We need a CB to challenge the starters but think we are alright in defence then.

Galbraith, Key, Lissah, Parker and Tymon to cover the fullback spots is plenty. Hope Parker goes out on loan and gains some experience like Lissah did.

Midfielders we are fine at the 6 and AMC spot, but we may need one to challenge Franco as Malick will go back to Brighton.

Wingers an obvious area to strengthen too. Then replacing who we lose would be my assumption. But we have a solid base to work out from now.

I agree with this. I would also like to see a proper LB challenging Tymon, or at least letting have a break now and again, Guy must be knackered this season.

The good thing with Lissah is he plays LB and RB for Falkirk, he may have played on the left even more than the right actually looking at his games.

I would say some in that squad will be moved on our of preference but a few might go for nice fees.
Defensively we look low on numbers and certainly need a bit more quality from out wide.

There is a good foundation to move forward with that squad even if we lose a few. We are in a much better place to where we were last summer so hats off for that.

I did a little lower league and Euro league scouting over the weekend. Some real gems out there…

Tranzit van Doors: young Ajax prospect, solid at the back.

Juan Tutrifor: Spanish wonderkid goalie who can also play RB, CB and holding mid.

Chip de Kuiyper: another from the Ajax academy

David/ Dai Hardffan: tearing it up for TNS

Ed Itinson: Leeds youngster we’ve been linked with

Inge Lund: SV Hamburg youngster heading out on loan next season

Serge Forvard: young French starlet with good energy

I hope the recruitment team have seen some of this lot.

Its not a given that even analysts at top PL clubs get a 100% success rate as far as recruitment is concerned so what chance have we got when we look back at our recruitment department since relegation from the Premier League. Even when we had cash in the PL there were plenty of 'joeys' being signed by Jenkins.

Sell:

Key
Cooper
Cullen
Santos
Congrieve
Govea
Bianchini
Parker (S)

Buy/Loan:

RB (Buy)
Centre Back (Buy)

I see Lissah competition for Defense. Don't see Parker being featured so loan out or sell.

agree with your list but buy/loan in priority for me:

Wingers: x2
RB (Buy)
LB (Loan)
Centre Back (Buy)
Midfield: Loan

Midfield may move depending on how Walta adapts

Yeah it’s certainly a nice place to be in, a very good foundation to build on. It’s remarkable when you consider the state of the squad at the beginning of the season.

I'll wait to see if this "mega" new shirt sponsorship deal comes to be before throwing names about during the summer transfer window.
