Isn't this just another (albeit escalated) version of the usual Trump playbook? Threaten other countries with some batshit insane idea, softening them up when it comes to the negotiating table?

It looks like Canada and Mexico are agreeing to do some of what he wants (border security) now they've been threatened with tariffs. I can't see how bullying and threatening supposed allies will work in the long term (not to mention it's reprehensible behaviour for a country that styled itself as 'the leader of the free world'), but it seems to be working in the short term. Also probably a good insight into his business dealings over the years, essentially all his 'art of the deal' nonsense boils down to having the bigger stick and threatening to use it.

This time he's got Musk behind him making the bullets for Trump to fire, a dangerous collaboration. IMO of course.

I must say, it really does make my eyebrows roll, when people criticise Trump. We are not living in some perfect Utopia, where Trump has come along, and upsetsthe applecart.

IMO the World is in a mess, someone comes along with different ideas for peace, then so be it.

The way the World is now, not very good, so I can't understand the pushback against Trump, it's not like Biden did a fantastic job, I just think end the war in Ukraine at all costs, and then talk, it's just sacrificing peoples lives for frankly nothing!

Edit: And just for the record Ecb, I am not a great fan of any of those, but when the opposition are complete turds, who do you vote for? I think Reform will come pretty close to winning the next election, I'll vote for them, simply because Labour are absolute rubbish. Heard some rumours Boris Johnson may join reform, great stuff, this Labour and Tory needs to be dismantled completely.

My view, it's unbelievable. It's an absolute what the fuck actual moment, when Elon Musk shared the screenshots of where the money has been spent. I mean who would really do that in a sane world, give money to LGBT stuff, or feed and look after vulnerable children..

It depends on whether the Ukrainian authorities will stop arresting and interrogating ethnic Russians in Crimea, the whole reason why this war is on-going

Yes, I mean purely my whole point is , this should be resolved by diplomacy, people are slagging Trump off for what? He has only just came into power, I think this needleless loss of life, could have been averted a long time ago, I think this needles loss of life on both sides, could have been averted a long time ago, if there was a decent leader to talk about it.

It kind of sickens me, such a waste of life, yet it seems some people are just fanning the flames further.

I've said this before, judge the world and decisions by the economy, people are earning a packet from blowing people up, some businesses want war because they know that rivals are f*cked, oil, gas, steel, resources.. Western europe including the UK needs to massively upscale its military forces to counter the threat of Putin once he's digested the 20% of Ukraine which Trump is about to hand him on a plate.
Then they need to fastrack Ukraine into the EU and impose an enforced 'no fly zone' over the whole country.
