I know lots of others here couldn't care less about what other clubs' fans think of us, but it's something that does interest me. Do they still think of us as a team that plays passing football? Do they think we're one of the better sides in this division? Each game will be watched by knowledgeable outsiders who might see things that we don't. So I'm going to extract comments from their fans forum for each other team, which should conclude in December. Feel free to respond when they're talking sense/nonsense.

PRESTON 0 - 0 SWANSEA

Preston website address: https://tinyurl.com/y3upeox8
Both sets of fans agreed that it was a drab game, so there weren’t many comments on the game that were relevant to us.
No yellow or red cards for either team in the match – when did that last happen?
They seemed to have started early in going into meltdown. Perhaps they want to avoid the rush.
Their forum has a “Lee Trundle” too?

……………………..

Looking at the Swansea team, I’m convinced we’re getting steamrollered

Go on tell us why ?? Who’ve they got better than Brewster; Gallagher; Van Der Hoorn; Dyer that's left?

…….

[After the Swans run out on to the pitch.]

That Swansea kit is a bit grim.

If we’d had that Swansea kit in my day I’d have been kicked off the park. Outrageous.

Swansea tops hurting my eyes.

I think Swansea need to have a look in their changing room for a 3rd strip at half time.

[After Swansea score]

Four Swansea player in that move. All unmarked

Browne's been awful. Bidwell's having a field day with AB's clueless positioning.

Swansea are sh*t but have a cutting edge. We are okay but no cutting edge. That's the difference.

Swansea's blocking has been excellent. Any time we have had a sniff at goal...

Is it just me that thinks Steve Cooper looks permanently hammered?

He looks like he could eat a tomato through a tennis racket.

Lowe and Ayew as a strike force is quick, but not exactly threatening in the air.

Swansea's wingbacks drive in and are good in the air. Their strikers’ strengths are with the ball at their feet. It is fairly straightforward.

Got to say I found the tomato and tennis racquet comment very funny. Also agree with comments on our away strip. At first I was ambivalent, but having seen it on TV, it's horrendous.

PS good thread, Glyn

Not much to argue with there apart from the first guy who thought our starting lineup was so strong and the comment about them being OK.

Ah, like a lot of inventors Mr S. got there first, but I improved on it. He's Tesla, and I'm Edison.

SWANSEA 0 - 0 BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham websites: https://www.smallheathalliance.com/ and https://wewilljourneyon.proboards.com/

Our second drab game in succession but the Brum fans were delighted with it. Either that's a compliment to us or they are still reeling from the massive thumpings they received last season. The main topics for them was the Alan Tate incident, and a referee they felt was biased in our favour.

FIRST HALF

Is this ref Welsh? Two clear fouls on Bela now not given.

What is this ref on?

Not form.
...

“There’s been one or two questionable decisions from Gavin Ward' - You Think !!!”

Swansea manager looks like he's stuck his face in a wasps’ nest.

Always reminds me of Plug from The Bash Street Kids

I think I’m watching on Swansea tv, legally of course… But god they’re so biased.

Swansea manager’s face shouldn't be shown pre-watershed. Absolutely gruesome. Our pressing has been ace, think we're the better team first half.

Swansea coach has just grabbed Toral by the neck!

I think Tate must be pissed. The officials must have seen it - let them deal with it.

It was weird, he looked like a tanked up lad in a boozer trying to start a fight over pushing at the bar. He'll be in for a fine and a touchline ban, we need to keep our focus on the pitch.

Let’s get to the good bit first. Slow but grew into and looked the better team although can still improve. Defensively look alright but a few scares, especially out wide with how narrow we are and the lack of support to the full backs (I mentioned this last week as well). But my god Championship refs are bad. That tackle in Bela was pretty poor and should have easily been a yellow, quite dangerous. Really favouring Swansea. Let’s hope it doesn’t cost us. And that at the end is disgraceful, should be a long ban but will get a small fine and one game suspension. Swansea commentators saying Toral was overreacting looking for punishment as well. But next half hopefully we improve and so does the ref.

Swansea TV commentator ‘childishness of the Blues not kicking it back, he just got frustrated with that, hopefully there is no repercussions for Tate’ ... WOW, just wow .

To be fair, if it was one of our coaches, we'd fecking love it.
...

SECOND HALF

Got away with it there, Gibbs-White ran straight through us.

Rodon has been Swansea's MOTM for them. Stopped us at every turn.

Agree now. Thought Gibbs-White had a cracking first half but Rodon across the full game has been quality.

Do you reckon they would sell us Rodon, he is class.

He's looked good, for sure. Just looked at his Wikipedia, he's been with them since he was a nipper. Nice to see.

POSTMATCH

Two clean sheets against two of the best attacking teams in the division [Brentford and Swansea]. Very happy.

Good point, solid start to the season, 4 points from two very good teams.

Thought a draw was a fair result with us being the better side in the first half and Swansea looking better 2nd when our attackers tired a bit.

Like the 3 Swansea CB's, each very decent, Gibbs-White unsurprisingly a handful and Ayew is quality but you could see what a big miss Brewster is for them. That was pretty much their full strength and they'll be top half challenging again so first two games for us a very good yardstick to see where we're at.

WYCOMBE 0 – 2 SWANSEA

Wycombe website address: www.gasroom.org

There’s not much to say about the match as their fans agreed that the Swans were so much superior to them. For the second match this season no yellow or red cards were given to either team.

……………………………………………………………………………………..

Way off Swansea’s level. 20 mins in and it is already damage limitation again.

We are getting ripped to shreds all over the pitch sadly.

Swansea look a good side, quick and very good at moving things around.

Hard to know how well we played second half as Swansea really took their foot off the gas, but on the face of it that was a positive 45 minutes.

Swansea may be top of the table with 7 points and three clean sheets but their defence looked a bit shaky at times in the second half.

One observation about today. Swansea were taking the short goal kicks that have become popular, but at times their keeper took an absolute age. Yet not a word from the referee and only the bare minimum injury time. Seems if you're looking to pass your way out of defence, you can take as long as you want?

Perhaps it's an acceptable form of time wasting?

Hiding behind the sofa after 25 but the 2nd half got me back out and gave me the confidence that we can get something out of this league and potentially stay up.

SWANSEA 2-1 MILLWALL

Millwall website address: https://tinyurl.com/y6cxs5to

Very little to say on this match by the Millwall fans. They claimed Guehi should have been given a 2nd yellow card and sent off and that they were denied a clear penalty. Absolutely no mention of our possible penalty with their foul on Cabango.

……………………………………………………………………………….

Come on lads this is David and Goliath, and you know what? We are David. They ain’t long out the Prem.

Blatant penalty and second booking-red, 10 men at 1-1. Ref bottled both big calls. Penalty was outrageous, ball was in play.

To be fair Swansea forced the defenders into a lot of mistakes which may have knocked confidence in this particular game and sat on Woods who had no time whatsoever. Obviously Rowett got beaten in the coaching department. That showed the Swansea manager coaches on a game by game basis and had done his homework.

.............................................................................

Wow. Under the cosh for a good 20 minutes and grab a cheeky goal.

...

We don’t need any strikers. We’ve got a left back!

...

This referee is as Welsh as Tom Jones & Max Boyce.

...

Ref’s from Cleveland, plastic Yorkie tw*t.

...

Never a penalty and then he stutters the run-up which is illegal.

...

Stuttering is fine but he actually took a step backwards which is ridiculous if that’s allowed.

...

Striker running in, keeper coming to make himself big, striker heads it Miles over before going over the now static goalkeeper?? How is that a penalty?

...

Hamer wiped him out. It depends if you factor in that the ball was going out. If the ball has gone in midfield and you wipe someone out then its still a foul. I’d be screaming for that at the other end.

...

Sorry lads, that’s a penalty. You can’t just wipe someone out because they’ve got their shot away.

...

Strong skilful Swansea side who are masters of the cheating arts.

...

Swansea are good at keeping the ball whereas we look a bit hurried in possession.

...

Only a matter of time for Swans - should be 3 ahead now.

...

Pity we don't have a pulling shirts stat. Swansea would win it by a mile.

...

I think Swansea really needed to have signed a striker

...

Thought Ayew was excellent. Imagine him upfront for us.

...

Apart from all the whinging, pleading business.

...

Just got this text from my Swansea mate. Like his last points:

We were the better side in the 1st half, but poor in the 2nd half. Our defence was shaky and our midfield ineffective, Ayew sloppy. Lowe missed two good chances, one a sitter. Cooper has a lot of work to do to get this team working as a unit.

HT were a different team after the break, and should’ve taken the lead sooner (hit the post and missed from 4yds). Overall, I thought we deserved a point based on our first half, but HT are playing decent football under your new man, and will improve.

PRE-MATCH DISCUSSION

From what I’ve seen of Swansea this season they are more like a Bournemouth or Brentford than a Wycombe or Rotherham. Think it will be a tough game personally.

I think for some reason they'll be a reaction from the players and Swansea despite starting well imo are no Brentford or Bournemouth in terms of quality.

Didn't realise Nathan Dyer was still at Swansea. Given it is 10 seasons since we played them, he played in all of the previous Championship games we played them in.

UPDATE: Tell a lie actually, he's been released from contract but is still training with them. He was really decent back in his day.

Swansea are one of those teams that have the occasional slip up against teams they should theoretically beat, so on that basis I'm going for an undeserved 1-1.

When we were in the Premier, Swansea were my lower league team. Used to go and watch them a few times a year.... and some of the Jacks used to come to Cov games. Good lads. So always had a soft spot for them. Swansea is a top night out so hope to go when all this pandemic has blown over... if it ever does!!!

It’s going to be another game where we spend large periods of the game chasing the ball. Swansea look to boss possession and rank third in the league.

FIRST HALF COMMENTS

Incredibly sluggish start from Swansea, there's acres of space out there in comparison to Sunday.

You know we've made it back to the big time when there's foreign language commentary in the background.

COVENTRY GOAL

Deserve this so far, finding little pockets of space up top too. Really positive. Keep it going!!

Can't play through our press, Coventry have been superb.

Anyone listening to the Swansea commentary on ifollow? It’s sending me to sleep. Just two Welsh blokes occasionally talking like they're in the pub.

AYEW’S GOAL

Boooooooooo!

Worst time to concede.

Had been coming.

That covid c**t shouldn't be playing.

...

If you run at centre of defence it often causes defence to panic. Good goal by Swansea.

Disappointing to be going in level, they had only really threatened from set pieces whereas we showed more liveliness going forward. Still confused as to how the through ball made its way past so many of our players but they don’t need a second invitation at this level.

SECOND HALF

Christ, Swansea should have hit the target then.

Hanging on a bit. Someone needs to just get foot on ball and slow it for a few minutes.

Ffs. We are really asking for it.

Another sitter O’Hare misses I’ve only just got over that Birmingham one.

POST-MATCH COMMENTS

Quite happy. Good performance. Chances to win it. Swansea the stronger but we gave as good as we got. Draw fair result.

Much better from us against a decent Swansea side.

Swans fans slagging their team, most think they were hanging on and only deserved a point. Have to say they never really threatened and only stupid free kicks gave them chances.

Thought it was a bit arrogant from Swansea tonight actually. They'll have seen the Bournemouth and Brentford games and how a high press and nullifying the wingbacks strangled us and yet it just seemed they ignored that and thought they would simply match us up and be better.

Excellent thread. Always good to get the wider picture, which some fans are unable or unwilling to do.

This post stands out: "Obviously Rowett got beaten in the coaching department. That showed the Swansea manager coaches on a game by game basis and had done his homework." Rowett, a rising star by all accounts.

How anybody calls our manager a "fraud" says everything about the fraud of a fan.
