Wrexham will inevitably end up in the Premier League in the next decade.

I think this too. Maybe pretty soon. The play off challenging clubs this season are a pile of crap from SU down. Let’s hope we can join them.

So it looks like they'll have decent budgets for the Championship then, given some of the earlier comments which I'm taking as well informed.

That may well be the case, but what we have to remember is this - they're not coming from the PL with parachute money and a squad full of players too good for the division. They're coming up into the division, with (let's face it) a very League One looking team. Albeit a v good one.

The Championship is a bit shite, but it's very hard to get promoted out of, even with money. You need more than just high tempo huff and puff football, which they do very well, but there are loads of other teams at this level that also do that very well and they get nowhere near promotion.

I don't think they'll be in danger of being relegated. But I'd be shocked if they even threaten to make a 4th jump in a row. It's too big a step up.

They have momentum, like we had after the Hull game when Trundle joined and the Liberty was on the horizon. That momentum was worth far more to us than the 25K we paid for Angel Rangel.

They’ll make a decent go of it and do t be fooled in to thinking they don’t have the stadium or facilities, they do, and they’re more likely to get sent raw talent from the likes of Liverpool and Man City than the likes of us who’ve had our shot at that and now have to settle for loanees from Burnley.

Can’t wait to take six points off them. The arrogance of their fans is a tad odd given where they were not long ago. One team in Wales and it’s us. Any love-in from Swansea to them is strange and don’t say I didn’t tell you so when we actually come to play them

My memory of Scunthorpe away in the playoffs was one of their fans in their poxy little tin shed ground throwing nuts and bolts at us. . Luckily he was bad aim and you could hear them rattling off the metal work above.

How big is Wrexham's fan catchment area in Wales?.. I guess it's all of the North but Cardiff would argue differently. Would thier interest reach Aberystwyth, Brecon and East and West Wales?

Also in the last 15 years has our and Cardiff supported areas changed much with younger support?

People around Wrexham follow Everton in my experience. They’ve fought it out with Tranmere, Liverpool, Everton and Chester plus the Manchester clubs for support so their catchment isn’t huge.

How do you define Welsh? They were always the bulk of Wales football fans back in the day, biggest Welsh speaking areas in Wales, you’ll never see a Union Jack in their support (unlike ours) sing Welsh songs / chants during their games and always have.

Their catchment is huge. Something like 700,000 people live in Wales north of Newtown.

As you say though, their biggest problem historically has been the lure of Premier League clubs in Liverpool and Manchester. "The story" will drag a fair few plastics in to support them, as it did for us and Cardiff. Their hardest problem will be holding onto them, as indeed it will if "the story" starts getting stale and the US market begins to lose interest.

Up until now something has happened every season. A narrowly missed playoff charge and then three consecutive promotions. It remains to be seen if a couple of years of mid-table Championship drudgery affects that.

Those several hundred thousand are also in the catchment of many other clubs too. The League of Wales is popular through mid and north Wales and if you come down as far as Newtown you can throw clubs like Villa and Wolves into the PL mix with the Merseyside and Manchester giants. Their potential for growth of the fanbase really isn’t that great.

We compete with Cardiff for a lot of the same supporters. Doesn't make our potential catchment area any smaller.

I'm not saying that these people will become permanent Wrexham supporters. We know full well how fickle the Welsh sporting public can be. From 21,000 sell outs in the Prem to probably less than 10,000 attendees at some games this season.

If they continue to do well however they will continue to pull the crowds in. Maybe some will convert, most probably won't, but whilst there's still some glory to hunt they'll show up.

There are 2 and a half million in South Wales with much greater affinity to the respective clubs and within much easier reach. We have plenty of fans in Haverforwest and Cardigan but how much does that make a dent in the attendance. There are clubs in the league of Wales in the North that have no affinity with Wrexham and won't change their support.

Wrexham has a population of just 55,000 smaller even than Burnley. However Wrexham county is obviously larger. They will increasingly be able to draw on international support down the line.

Our problem isn’t catchment. Most of the country plays Sunday League football. For some reason Swansea and Carms league seniors play on Saturday afternoon. Our crowds could double overnight if we played Sunday League, but that’s a different conversation. Wrexham is pretty much maxed out geographically.
