• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Shock as hypocrite refuses to support LGBT rights for 'religious reasons', but wears a fat betting sponsor on his top

Almost like he's just homophobic instead of religious

I think people like him who follow a religion that endorses and entrenches homophobia are absolutely bonkers and have a screw loose - but equally I defend to the death his right to follow and practice that religion if he wishes to do so.

Not the same - he has no choice with the shirt. If he wants to play for Ipswich he has to wear the shirt.

So he's religious unless it costs him money.

He’s clearly very religious on some issues but would sell his soul willingly for 30 pieces of silver.

I suspect it’s a requirement to wear kit. He can’t just ruck up and play skins because he doesn’t like a sponsor.

Absolutely. Otherwise we’re no better than those regimes that silence any opposition. Freedom from discrimination on the grounds of religion (as nutty as they are) is a cornerstone of our democracy.

Equally he could choose not to sign for a team that has a betting company as a sponsor. Or her could be like those players in France who refused to wear rainbow kits a few years ago (Gueye of Everton was one of them), meaning they didn't play in those games.

I absolutely support his decision not to wear the armband, it has to be an individual choice or it's a meaningless gesture. However, by wearing a shirt with a better sponsor he has certainly opened himself up to being called a hypocrite, picking and choosing which aspects of his religion matter to him. Or he could actually be a homophobe, who knows?

James McLean gets hammered for not wearing a poppy, but he's always willing to explain his reasoning when asked about it (as was Matic when playing for Man United). Morsy and Ahmedhodzic of Sheffield United duck the question when asked why they choose not to wear the armband, meaning they're also pretty cowardly.

Hypocrite? Jordan Henderson says hold my beer.

Looking at the history of religion, most religious types are pontificating self righteous hypocrites, or total fuckwits, or both. Expecting Morsy to be different is optimistic.

That’s his choice innit, he’s entitled to it after all.
Innit, but who cares, if I was him I'd wear it, no skin off my nose and if people felt I was supporting them then fine, just wear it you don't have comment on it wear it play the game then take if after the game I don't see an issue myself.

Lots of assumptions there. I don’t know the bloke, so don’t feel in a position to speak for him. I imagine it’s pretty hard to avoid betting in football. And who knows whether those sponsors were in place when he signed 2-3 years ago. But, as I say, who knows (and frankly who cares).

Just to add though, I don’t agree with his stance and think the more extreme Muslim views develop against LGBTQ+ is disgusting. But agree he has the right to chose to not support the cause.

Just highlights the hypocrisy of religion.

Player won't wear a rainbow armband due to religious beliefs yet is ok with wearing a shirt sponsor who make money from gambling which is also against the players chosen religious belief.
