Now Bale wants to buy Cardiff as well as Plymouth

Looks to have a lot of traction though mart
Yeah does look that way but one of the strategies in investment is the buy on the dip sell on the high.

Plymouth & Cardiffs value(cost to buy them) will have dropped as a result of relegation. Cardiff's revenue this year will drop from 24m/year to 14m/yr thanks to loss of TV revenues at Championship levels etc

That's why I speculate that the consortium is bottom fishing. Hoping that an owner has had enough and wants out after a relegation. Bale may want Cardiff for sure but the consortium are looking for a deal.

The investors wont care if its Cardiff, Plymouth, which they already moved onto after their Cardiff bid was rejected out of hand, or Luton, Sheff Weds or ????

With Cardiff in debt approx 80m, mostly to Tan, and that's not counting the current just finished season, its hard to see why they would be a good target compared to other clubs. Tan has put over 200m into that club. He would have to be desperate for money to sell it in a fire sale right now.

But there is all sorts of ways to structure deals so it may happen. Take the Burnley takeover for example where the buyers effectively used Burnley's own money to buy the club. Think it was Burnley, havent checked

Just to expand that a little....

But the Trust say the group has yet to follow up their initial proposal with a firm bid.

"As a result of a conversation the Trust has had with the club at board level, it seems that no formal bid has been made for the club to consider," said Trust chair Keith Morgan.

"Rather, a notice of intention to make such an offer was delivered direct to owner Vincent Tan who seems to have had little interest in it and, in the absence of an actual bid, the matter was not progressed further.

"The board have confirmed that no bid has been received and that one is not anticipated."

Morgan claims the consortium are merely on a "fishing trip" to test which clubs might be available to buy, citing reports that they had also attempted to take over fellow League One side Plymouth Argyle.

Hahahaah, they were adamant it was happening too. Let's face it, bale has never had a love in for Cardiff city and the sooner they realise that the better.

I did say it was the consortium fishing for deals. Approaching owners of relegated teams who may have had enough after relegation and want out. Bale may really want Cardiff but all the investors want is a DEAL whether its Cardiff, Plymouth, Sheff Weds or whoever. The investors dont give 2 monkeys or even any monkeys about Cardiff

I am trying to be objective - but almost impossible when I think about those bunts up the road..
HOWEVER, objectively the list of liabilities and potential legal jeopardies that they hold surely drive down the price to levels where Tan would be unwilling/unable to sell?
Enjoying sitting with a bowl of popcorn and watching it play out.

Kieran Maguire estimated their sale price to be 2 x revenue which is 30m as their revenue drops from 24 to 15m in league 1. But then you've got something like 100m owed to Tan and his pals in debt.

Unless that can be written off by Tan, or in another way, no one in their right minds would buy something for 30m which may be worth 50m IF they bounce back but owes 100m of debt

They would need Tan & co to walk away and forget about those loans altho someone mentioned them keeping the Sala court case as their own.

Dont see any of it tbh
