Summer Transfer Window

This league is going mad if

Hull are willing to pay upto 5m for O'Brien given he has 12 months left of his contract and is totally out of favour with Forest
And
Someone is willing to pay 900k plus for Poku when he is a month off being 24 and available for "Free"
Don't even think a tribunal would go as high as 900k.

Is the Poku deal definitely dead in the water? Any reputable sources reporting the 900K or just Football League World?

If those two fees are correct then it’s nice to see we’ve finally got decent people in charge who walk away

If it's true that a fee was agreed with us and Poku then it's going to be around that 900k! It's being reported by Sky so it seems legit.

I can understand us being interested for a couple of 100k but not around that million mark given we need strengthening in all other areas other than wingers currently.

Totally agree - at this level, £5m for a DM is insanity and we (rightly) should want no part of that kind of nonsense.
I think those in charge will be shrewder, Inoussa will probably be the only player where we drop that kind of money and that was only because Hull themselves supposedly had a similar bid turned down last summer

Poku's stats are good, but he has never stepped up above league one level.

I could see some sides paying 900k just to not risk going to tribunal or another side coming in and gazzumping you while you wait for his birthday on 11th August

He is someone who gets around 10 goals for a struggling championship club.
I always think what players like Yates could score in a better team that creates more chances.
I beg to differ that he would score more in a better team. His major problem imo is that he does not create opportunities with his movement (which is quite ponderous), his knack of going behind the defenders means any cross coming his way has a good chance of being cleared and even if it's not cleared he won't see the ball until very late and his reactions are not the quickest leading to missing what little chances he gets.

I can see us paying another decent fee like we did on Inoussa but it would certainly be on younger players rather than let's say on O'Brien.
These fees we seem to be agreeing on are small upfront fees with payments spread over a longer period.

If rumours are led to be believed, we could be looking at doing quite similar with this Stamenic at Forest with a loan in the first instance.

Hoping we see some movement next week, it’s been a good window so far but would be nice to get Stamenic (if it is him) and a striker over the line before we go to Spain, although that’s probably unlikely. Sheehan will want the most players we can get in for pre season tour no doubt.
