A New Dawn in SA1: Can Richard Montague's Recruitment Drive Propel Swansea City to Promotion?

It's great to see a bit of adventure and certainly a nice feeling to see a board being pro active.
Montague and co can't do what they are doing without the people at the top allowing them to do it so Cravatt,Cohen and co deserve the big praise here.

Let's be modest and keep the P word locked away though. It was 12 months back when I was reading Cardiff fans and press talking big on Cardiff's chances but we know how that went.

Its going ok all but let's not get carried away but say a big thanks and well done to the people giving us a bit of hope back.

As daps said, we have seen so many false dawns over the past decade that most of us are too jaded to accept any potential new dawn as just that. Certainly all the signs have been promising and there is much to be excited for, but lets see out the summer window and get this season rolling first before we let ourselves get swept up too much in positivity :D

Aye, but the difference is they (a) had a shit squad and (b) signed shit players - it was only their fans and the muppets at WoL who thought they wouldn't be fighting relegation

Yes, let's not get carried away. We've made some exciting signings, but I feel we still need a statement signing up front, and don't forget the league this season contains many ambitious clubs with more resources than us.

Let's see how our players blend in and how the younger players get on hey.

Still work to be done, players out and 4/5 players to come in pending with what goes out of course. It's a squad game these days.

We’re a decent striker away from giving it a good crack this year, sort that out and we’re in with a chance.

I still don't get why people think a striker is a priority - the midfield is still too thin, we're one injury to Franco or Galbraith away from having to go back to Fulton. We need another CM in there for a 46+ game season or we risk being spread too thinly.

Another striker would be nice, but we've signed Wales, and unless we can shift on Yates or Vipotnik I doubt another one is coming in.

Ahh the good old "jellying in"

Not necessarily, as you could then play with Eom/Cullen as a 10

I don’t think that’s 100% accurate Monty has come out recently saying that the process to identify and target players was in place long before he arrived. This is just our first summer window with it in place, it’s how we identified the likes of Galbraith, Widell, O’Brien and Inoussa.

What Montagur has brought is a more efficient way to get the deals done as opposed to Andy Coleman doing it, but this recruitment strategy is something he’s clearly walked into rather than created as he said it was built and implemented in October.

Defence is the weakest area currently.
We only have Key,Tymon,Cabango,Burgess and Santos as senior pros in the squad defensively. We have Galbraith covering RB but not much other options after that.
We have no cover at left back at all and an injury away from Santos stepping in, it's a risk.

Parker and McKenzie cover both of those positions too. Both impressive by all accounts.

He didnt say it was built and implemented in October, that article says that its something that has been worked on since someone arrived in October.

It would take months to implement an effective structure and there is little doubt that Montague is leading the way in delivering the structure with a good team behind him
