We made a bit of hard work of that one, but were deserved winners and could have scored six or seven and the scoreline wouldn't have looked out of place. Their keeper made a number of good saves including one from Parker in the first half and one from Cooper in the second half.

Tymon looks like he is developing a really good understanding with both Inoussa and Eom offering loads of threat down our left

Galbraith I thought was superb, he was everywhere had one goal disallowed and scored an excellent one in stoppage time

Widell grew into the game, he was combative and was always looking to try to find a killer ball even if they didn't always come off

Sam Parker is an able deputy for Key, this game should hopefully give him plenty of confidence

Bobby Wales did more in 25 minutes than Vipotnik in almost 100 (including both this game and Boro) and Cullen in 90. Surely has to be under consideration to start against Sheff Utd

Still don’t know what to think of Widell he shows flashes of looking like a good player but he’s got some wayward passes in him. Maybe he still needs time to settle in and calm down. Certainly a lot energy in his game he was everywhere on pitch. I’ve still got hope for him.

He run about, agreed.
Widell, cooper and vipotnik poor.

Rest excellent
I have to disagree with both, he was put into the number 8 role today rather than his preferred number 10 position. He battled hard, linked well with the wingers and Galbraith and tried several cute slide rule passes that were just slightly under/over hit.

More to come from him as he gains confidence and gets used to the pace of English football

Honestly I don't know what more Wales could have done in that 25 minutes to win you over
He scored a goal
He got an assist
He worked the channels
He held the ball up and brought others into play
He did well, but remember he was up against League Two tonight. I think he needs to bulk up a bit more for the Championship.

If I'm being picky VP hold up play is better. But a whole lot more Wales brought to the team when he came on. Keep wanting VP to step up but if we get a striker in he is going down pecking order.

Now Cooper I agree with, other than one shot in the 2nd half I cannot actively recall him doing anything of note in the entire game. The actual definition of headless chicken, all energy no direction or application

I agree on the last sentence. I’m looking forward to his development, he’s a Swedish international at the end of the day, so expectations are rightfully high.

I think there is something special in Galbraith. Innousia as well and still convinced Eom is getting better. Franco for me is good. But needs to kick on. Well not literally as that foul on him was terrible. Widell for me as well is someone who didn't get enough credit tonight. He worked his socks off. Sam Parker did well too.

I agree your point Widell. He didn't stop, and didn't do a lot wrong and grew into the game. He looks like he's unsure what's required of him.

Thoughts.

Liked the way we played, much more zip and drive through midfield.

Casey is a great player. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him oust Burgess and become our main centre back with Cabango.

Galbraith - very very good player. Will be interesting to see him play where he did tonight against championship teams

Inoussa looks very good. I thought Sam Parker had an excellent game at right back and would see no real problems in him as back up this season.

Eom looked good when he came on. Wales looks lively. Vipotnik looked the opposite of lively. Congreve is a bit of a headless chicken.

All in all, job done and we’ve cocked these up before.
Enjoyed it.
What happened to getting excited by signing a player from Orient then???

Positives: all new signings, both Parkers
Negatives: Vip, Congrieve (bit harsh)

I was already Vip out, that just further solidified it. Get him gone this window; at least Cullen can offer 10 cover

Fish not being a negative is a positive

Some proper surprise results in the cup tonight

Boro being spanked 3-0 by Doncaster
Portsmouth losing 2-0 to Reading
