WE're lacking that defensive cover, yeah.
But most importantly we're lacking a real 10 - we create fack all at the mo.

Either get a Dele 10, or deploy EG30 in that space.

WE did well when LOB played a front foot 8 - Galbraith could emulate that role, in a mock 10 - he has the heads-up vision and presence in tight spaces.
With MY8 driving, probing, covering in true box-box long distance runner mode; and Stam the Man anchoring in 6, orchestrating, pinging, linking.

We have the players, make it work Sheeeezy.....
How's NottingHill Billy doing after yesterday's excursion down the M4 Lolla? 🤣

73/74 is as harrowing for me as 2003 Daps, you had to be there, I did both. But yes, let the good times roll 🫶
It’s rarely been dull supporting our club over the years. Maybe it’s relatively more dull than normal recently, but it’s in the second tier, not the fourth.
Weirdly, about 7 years after 73/74 where were we? About 7/8 years after 03 where were we?
It’s a funny old game Jaxs.

The 7 year thing is very telling.
Maybe it takes a scare to give you kick up the rear to push on and for the fans to accept the good times in a modest fashion.
Maybe we have been too pampered over the last 17years.

People need a bit of perspective. Sheehan has done a very good job up until this point. One game can not be used as a stick to beat him with.

But it is also true that the real work starts now. Vipotnik has done brilliantly this year with very little service. Almost every shot he has taken has gone in. It sounds like Idah is one of the biggest investments that we have made as a club, certainly outside the Premier League. So he now needs to prove he can get the best out of him, which will be making sure the team creates more for him and gets him the chances he will need to score the goals to justify the fee.

If he can do that and the team stays as organized as it has been, I will happily have him in the dugout until next season.

It is incredible how a good off-season, and suddenly our fan base will stand for nothing less than automatic promotion.
The reality of the championship is that any team can beat any other team on any given day, and it is a marathon. What is required is to be competitive in every game, and pick up points more often than not.
I see plenty of good signs that we are starting to gel. But there are some obvious areas for improvement, and the stats tell a story.
We are not creating enough, and not controlling games when we are on top. I always felt vulnerable to the counter attack on Saturday, and possession in the last third often didn’t end up with a chance created.
There were many opportunities to slide the ball into VP when he was in the area with his back to goal…But we declined for an easier sideways pass, or a pass to the wide man. I think a little bit more positivity and we will start to score goals and win more points.
Patience is required and we are not automatically entitled to win every week in the championship. It is a brutal division!!

We've signed players who haven't kicked a ball yet, a handful of games in, patience and some perspective is required, our big money striker has played about 10 minutes. It's very much a work in progress, and progression is rarely seamless.

Exactly.

We've basically got a brand new (young) team who need time to gel and the international break didn't help either.

It little bit of patience and perspective is needed.

Which feels like the kind of thing we should be saying if we were in the bottom half of the table right now.

While we're actually 7th and were 2 shit refereeing decisions (the amount of added on time and not giving a freekick for the foul on Ronald) away from being in the playoff places.

All part of the learning curve for the players and the manager.

Expecting plenty of highs and lows during what I think is a season of growth both on and off the pitch.

The recent poll doesn't bear that out. Most people think we'll finish somewhere between 3rd and 12th (over 100 votes, a decent sample size).

Loads of them on Twitter, Lis. They’ve been out for him since he got the caretakers gig.

Like a lot of people on here and the other social media platforms, some paint themselves into a corner with their opinions, then find it hard to get out of it so just double down.

The good thing is, Twitter is not a reliable representative sample for any fucking thing, ever. So their takes are as about as relevant to a football discussion as my morning movements are.
