The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Haven't watched the interview, can't be arsed, don't care what he said or didn't say, the only thing that matters to me is what happens on that green stuff called grass.

He's here now. Let's get behind him.

I hope he is able to get the best out of Ronald!!!

I liked his interview!
Seemed very relaxed, confident and understood or referenced part of what made us successful in more recent years.
I may be projecting this, but I get Martinez vibes about him. Maybe just similar accents, but if he starts saying I love this clooob and waring tan shoes then I may get worried about Wigan poaching him. 🤦‍♂️🤣

Liked how he wants attacking football, dominant and aggressive with and without ball.
If he can do that then he will get the fire in the stands that he asks for 🔥🔥🔥.

He only played 1 game for us
So he's not going to get in the team before Cabango and Burgess, in fact he couldn't get in the side for Saturday when Cabango was suspended, in front of a young loan player. Then when he came on he gifted them a third goal by being so far behind our last defender, playing their forward onside. He was injured at Bolton, and then got injured here. In my opinion we could have signed better than him , and it's a signing we shouldn't have made. If you see anything in the next 6 months to change my opinion get back to me.

Take away the schoolboy errors in yesterday's match at Ashton Gate I thought we were well in the game, as we were at Preston, and when I look at the 4th position Bristol hold in the table, I think to myself. Really! All we need now is a head coach who can organise a defence and select eleven players to play as a team and wide players to stretch the opposition to cross the ball into the mixer instead of hitting the first opponent. Simples!
Totally agree. Matos has to work on deliveries into the box. Our crossing is woeful. We probably played the better football against Preston and Bristol City, yet lost both games. I believe we have better players than last season. I hope Matos can find a way. And I hope to God Widdel starts instead of Cullen

I'm not expecting miracles tomorrow, but one thing I have noticed throughout the season is how easy our press is to beat. We were constantly pressing with only one or two players always leaving an easy out ball

Ten games in six weeks doesn't give him a lot of time on the training ground to bed in ideas especially once you account for usually the day after a game being a recovery and game analysis/debrief day with low intensity training if any at all.

Derby won 5 on the bounce before losing against Watford on the weekend and our run of form has been almost the exact opposite. Going into tomorrow's game with low expectations but hoping to see some green shoots of hope to cling onto as we push on then to next weekend's match.
