Have you just made that £35k figure up off the top of your head again though?

What he’s on at Forest isn’t what he’d be on here. Players we’d sign would all come through scouting and data etc regardless of how proven they are.

Fact is we were heading towards relegation, quick time under Luke Williams, our captain jumped ship and its been turned around, whilst still saving money on what Grimes was per week here. Good start.
Wasn't it quoted unofficially that we are paying around 25k a week of his 45k?

Any signing is a gamble and it's certainly higher end of what we would have wanted to pay a loan player in regards to wage but it's paid off.
We certainly won't be paying 25k a week on a loan signing going forward but needs must with the O'Brien signing after losing Grimes.

Vote has now and it's gone past 50% in giving him the job permanently. I have no doubt unless a big change in fortunes then he gets it permanently and if it's the case then do it ASAP once the season finishes and put all concentration into strengthening the squad.

Well we're all speculating unless you have specific inside information? Other teams were reportedly interested. Surely you accept that his wage we'll be paying him is well above what we'd normally pay players?

I'm just saying he's very much an anomaly and I don't disagree with anything you say in your post.

But O Brien isn't the test, I think he more less fell into our laps and the calibre of player signings possible when you're prepared to pay 2 or 3 times our going wage are much higher.

The scouting team should be assessed based on who is brought in this summer when we won't be offering inflated wages and able to sign proven championship players.

Widell looks promising and what we've been crying out for so I am hopeful. But realistic.

Are we in a financial position to sign "decent" proven championship players?

Proven ones, no probably not. If we we're, the scouting would be a lot easier. They essentially have the brief of unearthing gems from abroad/ lower league gems on wages akin to our current squad - not O Briens.

I'm still on the fence a little bit, but obviously leaning towards him after his great performance so far.
It will depend on how we do in the last four games, and then maybe on what sort of contract he's prepared to accept. One year rolling - yes, overpriced three year - no.

You never know 🙏🏼

But yeah realistically despite how much he’s enjoying his football here he’d be going elsewhere.

Let’s be honest about it, Ronald prior to Sheehans appointment was looking like Jao Moreira, amazing what telling a player to do what he does best ( run at , attack opposition full backs ) can do.

For what he’s done with these players it’s probably a yes from me however ….. what we can’t know is what he’s going to have to work with next season as the turn around in staff will be large again and this is where he has no prior experience at all. I also do believe that O’Brien has been a big plus not only for us as a team but for AS as the manager

If we did give him the job permanently, a good idea maybe a clause if he didn't do well, not sacked but back to his previous role and no compensation payable. Protection for both parties.

Can't see him signing up for that. I know I certainly wouldn't be happy with being promoted and then demoted.
