Sheehan has worked wonders in fairness, but it's a new scenario looming for him, and an even bigger test than he's just had.
I'm no harbinger of doom, but we've all endured enough false dawns and whilst I'm desperate for him/us to get off to a flyer come August, I have a lingering fear he's not for us. Jesus I'm hoping I'm wrong, call it a nagging doubt but bringing in 4/5 decent signings am just not sure that that will suit what he's just inherited.

The positive with Sheehan is that he’s not committed to protecting possession at all costs. Too many coaches these days are stuck to that ideology which results in a shit watch (and doesn’t necessarily bring results either). If it makes trips to the Swansea.com more enjoyable, I’m all for it.

He’s improved the defence and also seems able to motivate the players, unlike at least his last 2-3 predecessors.

We’ll see. Recruitment is going to have a big bearing on whether we can kick on. Get that right and Sheehan has shown he can organise and motivate, which is half the battle.

Twitter is a binfire of swans fans as expected. Everyone knows more than the next person, everyone has contacts in the club, some are Swedish football manager experts. Football fans eh 🤣🤣🤣

UppaSheezy, good luck son, you’re going to need it 😬
What’s also interesting is how Twitter poster alignments sway and change. For example there were loads of relationships between the Martin fans and Watson is a wanker lot, now some of those have turned to be in favour of the Sheez, whilst some have remained in the Sheez out mob. It’s interesting how before they were all slapping each others backs and retweeting each other, now they don’t even interact with each other, it’s like they can’t see each other anymore. It’s absolutely wild.

Grown women offering to meet up and duke it out as well. Nothing stranger than football fans and their tribalism 🙃

His first permanent head coach role. I doubt very much he will feel that he can relax just yet. I think (hope) he will be giving the job all that he’s able to.

If he fails I don’t think it will be from a lack of commitment or effort.

It will be interesting to see who his backroom coaches are. There is no doubt that both have helped Sheehan, bit worried it might effect future results. But on flip we might get better coaching set up. Who knows. Either way, less drama, a manager who wants to evolve and move away from last few years and knows the team.

Massive congrats to Sheehan! What an achievement, done a sterling job since he’s taken over.

I was am still very skeptical of him getting the job but I completely back him now and hope he does the business for us. Really, really hope he delivers.

Time to look forward and not backwards.. can’t change the past but hopefully the owners and gaffer have learnt from past mistakes.

Well they are new owners and leadership but yes we shall see if they are any better than the previous lot over the next 3 months or so

Yeah, but after Williams went, 80% didn't want him as manager on this very poll, they changed their votes, there was skepticism
I know I’m being cheeky here. It’s more to show how quick people move in viewpoint.

We can’t keep changing managers. We have to back them if we actually want them.

He 100% deserved a chance at the full time gig considering the record and tuning he got out of our depleted squad at the time, not everything works out and the showings of late have been abysmal, if it continues he goes and we get someone else, and I bet it’ll be someone who’s more of a statement/name with the new owners in charge.

Something has been on my mind since he was appointed full-time, but I was never confident enough to voice it on here and I worried that I was just being a cynical bellend for no real reason.

Looking back at Sheehan's interim period, it's noticable (especially now in hindsight) that considering the time of the season he was brought in, many of the teams we beat were genuinely just 'on the beach' or in as bad a scenario as we were.

Going over all of his fixtures, the objectively 'good' results were - Leeds away, and... QPR away?

His other wins came against Blackburn (also didn't have a manager), Middlesbrough (decent result, but sacked Carrick a week later), Derby (we were absolutely dreadful that day, one of the worst games of football I have ever seen), Plymouth (good performance in fairness, but to a team who went down bottom), Sunderland (who then lost five in a row and were effectively playing their b team at this point), Hull (another relegation candidate that we only beat through a dodgy penalty).

His other results are all dropped points to any team worth their salt; fair enough to lose at home to Burnley - even though we barely competed that day - but we were aimless in our loss away at Watford, and dropped points to Preston, Millwall, and Oxford.

I know this looks very after the lord mayor's show, but all of these results make sense when you consider how things have moved 'forward' under Sheehan. Even this season, our three wins have come against Sheffield Wednesday (a group of teenagers, 24th, Sheffield United (worst start to a season in their history, 23rd), and Blackburn (just generally naff, 21st).

We could beat Norwich at the weekend to complete the set!

If that transpires then I really hope they'll have done their homework, because the thought of us being used as a vehicle to rehabilitate someone's flailing career (Steven Gerrard would be one good example) just for clicks and attention, worries me.

And I really, really don't want another 'process' manager who only talks a good game either.

Put simply - they'd better have a bloody good plan.

Swansea City 🦢 v Norwich 🐥
