Are we really learning any lessons in our transfer dealings?

The news yesterday that the Swans would potentially be open to allowing Jerry Yates to leave the club on a permanent deal is just another one to add to a list of transfer mistakes that the club have made in recent years.Yates was signed last summer for £2.5m and the fact that the club could be prepared to let him leave tells you much about the decision to buy him in the first place.

One day they will get it right, it's a bit like playing roulette.......do it enough times and eventually.

Think they have shown that they dont learn from their mistakes, when they do try and address things........it comes out worse.

It's like giving a bunch of toddlers a bunch of permanent markers and leaving them for a few hours in a brand new kitchen. You hope but you know what the reality will be.

Well we aren't learning anything, are we? Our signings are getting worse.

13 Summer signings. 5 loan and 8 permanent (although I appreciate the irony of that word).

In the last league game, 15 players featured. One 'permanent' summer signing started and another came off the bench. Let's be kind and say that would have been 2 starters if Key was fit.

Out of the 8, Nathan Toe-Whatever (enough said), Broome (3rd choice keeper, fine), Ukrainian Bloke (108 league minutes) Pederson (4 league games) have been a waste of time. That's half of them.

Yates has scored a few goals but has struggled and it looks like he's heading off. I'm sure he'll suit a system somewhere or other but he clearly doesn't fit ours and that was obvious within about an hour of watching him play.

Tymon has been, at best, average although he has steadily settled into being one of our least terrible players.

I thought Ginnelly looked good before his injury but that wasn't based on very much football.

Key has been the pick by far and goes down as a success. Hopefully he can put his injury behind him and get a run of games.

Out of the loans, I'd say only Rushworth has been a real success. Lowe has been decent enough. Humphries very hot and cold. Same with Patino. Ashby (other spellings available) - awful.

We've also signed a bloke who has been here two months and isn't fit enough to play more than about 20 minutes.

So in summary... dreadful.

Simply put, no. The transfer dealings with this scatter gun approach to signing that we've seen since Watson's arrival could put us into FFP hot water for the simple reason that we are signing players that aren't good enough and we're having to loan them out, replace them with even more signings, and allow them to leave for a fraction of the original outlay.

Add to that the fact that we have virtually no players of significant sell on value, it makes balancing the books and avoiding FFP bother a significant challenge.

So who’s to blame? The Americans owners have clearly made money available, it’s just that whoever is in charge of recruitment (Watson) needs to be held to account. And bare in mind, we can’t go throwing money about, as we have to bide by FFP rules.
